Exodus sells bandwidth per Mbps not by GBs.

Exodus is very high priced but you get what you pay for...

Exodus is looking for someone to buy them out. I also heard today (but not sure how true) that they are going to be delisted on the exchange.

A lot of larger companies have been jumping ship over there.

I don't think this has nothing to do with Exodus services.

Exodus sells services to Geocities, Yahoo, Tripod, Microsoft, Lycos, MSNBC, Google, NAI and me :P

It's too difficult for a company this size to have problems that will affect its customers (like shutting down).

To easily put it: if Exodus has no money to pay the rent, Microsoft and Yahoo will buy it out in a snap.

Manuchao,

Not true at all. I don't think there is any company out there that wants to take on Exodus's dept! No one will probably buy them (due to the extraordinary amount of dept they have) until they file bankruptcy and then someone will pick them up in a fire sale.

Financial problems most always affects customer service! The stories I could tell :)

To be honest, the execs leaving Exodus is NOT a good sign... Nor the fact that they tried to keep it a secret. sigh...

I don't have much experience in this as you do but I do have good faith. But I guess that's not enough...

But what will happen to Yahoo/Geocities/Microsoft if Exodus goes down? What will THEY do? That's what I am interested to see.

Anyway, I guess the cherry is the 10 year contract with (is it?) Global Crossing which makes Exodus a bad target for a buyout.

And I don't know what this means:

EXODUS COMMUNICATIONS ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

I haven't experienced a better and more reliable service than Exodus... It is by far the best I've seen the last 6 years I work for a web hosting firm.

Fortunately we can easily move our servers from there in case anything happens. We have practised a lot in the past with smaller companies we've worked with and who they screwed it in financial and closed it suddenly one day ;)

I know somebody that works for Exodus, according to him .. Exodus is really looking for either buyer or investors to help them. They are giving themselves time till December .. and if they can't get anyone to help them out by December... they probably will shutdown.

I wouldn't go with Exodus right now ...

So what are you going to do now? From what I see your servers are connected to Exodus as well. Are you going to move them? If so, where?

If it's not a big trouble for you, please mail me your final decision for the new host.

We are currently shopping for new partner for colo (we want it to be totally transparent to our users and reliable).

My email is manuchao@freemail.gr

Thanks,

to let you know, psi.net (NASDAQ: PSIX) already went bankrupt for about 4 months ago (their stocks were delisted from NASDAQ), but they still operate right ?
When a company like Exodus goes bankrupt it doesn't mean that all of its fiber cables, all of its routers get cut.

Unlike p-sigh, EXDS doesn't actually own fiber/backbone per se. They bought GlobalCenter, but it isn't as simple as that.

Also, not to many people know, but EXDS doesn't own any of their routers or networking hardware. It's all leased.
