I'm just curious as to how much RAM is in the US?

I'm in the UK and it is dirt cheap at the moment with 128mb (pc133) at £12 ($16.80), 256mb £22 ($30.80), 512mb £49 ($68.60).

Just wondering why it costs so much for extra RAM in a server?

Our prices here (Malaysia) are:

128MB SDRAM 133Mhz Kingmax $17.00
256MB SDRAM 133Mhz Kingmax $33.00

128MB RDRAM 133Mhz Samsung $43.00

:)

The Samsung RAM is RDRAM - 400Mhz and must go in a Rimm slot, its quicker than 133Mhz SDRAM.

I'd recommend www.crucial.com...

Straight from the supplier without the middle man and very quickly delivered...

Been using them for a year and prices are more than reasonable.

I can get 256 RAM for about £27 in the UK. Even PC WORLD - Which is the biggest PC store in the UK is selling RAM cheap on their web site.

Its amazing, a few months ago RAM was £90 - £100 for 128 RAM

Hehe, yes I am. We host something like 7000 subdomains but we stopped, we would have got real big but there is no profit in free hosting. ;)

I guess the thing to remember is with the unbranded RAM is that whilst it's really cheap it doesn't always have the same quality unlike stuff like Kingston or Crucial.

Does seem unreal the way things have just dropped so far though

So, for all the people that really still didn't got it.

GO BUY RAM NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go for the A-BRANDS or BRANDS that use A-BRAND chips. Really, you will kick your head in when you decide to finally do a RAM upgrade just to see that the prices went through the roof again.

Believe me, that will happen sooner or later again.

BUY NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't use your computer without anything less than 512MB.
