Do Threads expire after a long period of time? If so how long must the thread exist before it is deleted.

I'm not sure, but can the board be set to auto-expire (or close) a thread after a certain time? I think I saw that done somewhere...

auto expire would kill off one of the advantages of this forum - that being a storehouse of information going back years.
