View Full Version : Is Whois Messed up? - Do a WHOIS on your server in SSH on microsoft.com

Is everybody getting these results when doing a whois in root on your server.
I tried taking out a lot of the profanity that appears during this search.

I get similar results when doing a whois on aol.com msn.com yahoo.com (pretty much the big name domains)

When I do a whois on whois.crsnic.net, I get that stuff. But not on any other whois server.

Lol. Probably Verisigns fault. Even if it isn't, let's blame it on em' anyways!

Go to betterwhois.com and try it out

maybe its just starting to resolve.

I've always used betterwhois.com for the past year and a half.

Now i got what i posted above for yahoo.com

if you look a little closer, they are actually nameservers people have setup on their own domain names. :)

So your telling me If I register the nameserver yahoo.com.mydomain.com It's gonna appear on that list??

Weird how they got listed. Anyways just wanted to give my info.

Yup, it's an old trick. Years back Microsoft's results used to show almost twice as many as it does now.
