cartika-andrew 10-19-2003, 08:05 PM If youre any good with PHP, use oscommerce....
open source, so its free
Andrew Smith 10-20-2003, 11:33 PM I liked cart from softwareforhostnig.com, but it's 99$... Can you afford it or it's rather expensive?
Sheps 10-21-2003, 12:20 AM I would be wary of softwareforhosting.com I got spam from them every week for a month once... It definately turned me off from them, and I will never buy anything from them.
IMO, OSCommerce is probably the most powerful, prebuilt cart software, and it is free.
abluegrape 10-26-2003, 03:45 PM cubecart.com - free license or a $60 option to get rif of (c) messages

bensie 11-18-2003, 12:54 AM Does OScommerce or Cubecart allow for recurring payments? I am looking for an open source billing program for Linux, solely to bill my hosting clients month to month. Paypal just isn't doing it for me.
Hostopedia 11-18-2003, 06:10 AM Hello Vikas,
Undoubtedly, without a question - osCommerce is "the" best and extremely powerful. With the amount of active support and customization it provides, one cannot ask for more for the price at which you get. Yes, it is absolutely FREE and is released under GNU GPL.

G'luck.

bensie 11-18-2003, 06:24 AM But does it allow for recurring billing? I have briefly looked into it and like what I see, but I need something that will bill on a monthly basis. Thanks.
Hostopedia 11-18-2003, 06:30 AM Hello Bensie,
I think you could handle this in couple of ways -
(i) Use a payment processor whose gateway works/integrates with shopping cart like osCommerce (for ex:http://www.echo-inc.com/shopping_carts.html)
(ii) or "manual re-billing", if you think the above option is not feasible (well, not exactly the way you wanted ;-))
Never, store your client's CC info on insecure servers if you intend on re-billing manually.

bensie 11-18-2003, 06:49 AM If I were to go with #1, is it a fact that echocart allows for monthly recurring billing? As I am sure you can tell, this is my primary concern.
Hostopedia 11-18-2003, 07:08 AM Hi again Bensie,
AFAIK & as can be seen from the link below Echocart(shopping cart) has been replaced with osCommerce.
However, osCommerce can be integrated with the ECHO-INC's payment module and can be used to process the recurring transactions.

bensie 11-18-2003, 07:25 AM Ok I took a look and see what you are saying. Unfortunately, I do not have the money to activate such a credit processor (it is $99). Do you by chance know if osCommerce can be tied to paypal?
Hostopedia 11-18-2003, 07:44 AM Ummn..then have a look at these:
