i'm looking forward to start a small web hosting business.But i would like to know something. It will be situated in the island of Mauritius, in the Indian Ocean. There are no ways to send bankdrafts or check, because comission fees would be exagerated,about 50$. And my clients will be mainly from america. So the only way to get paid is by mean of credit card. I've heard of merchant stuff. Please tell me what it does and how it works. Please tell me the most appropriate one for my country. here there is none.

A merchant account is a tool where you use to charge other peoples' credit card.

I think http://authorize.net/ works with international users.
It depends on what your budget is to spend on merchant account.

Brian, in another thread you were mentioning that 50$/year and 39$/year hosting plans were too much for you and you were looking for less expensive solutions.

Your only option (it seems) are no fee start-up and no monthly fee 3rd party processors. Full merchant accounts generally carry $60/mo-ish fees alone.
