Hi all,

I want to build a streaming media server to streaming WM8 video files. I would like to use Windows Media Services on Win 2000 as the streaming server and store all media files at the remote Linux server.

But I got the following questions:

(1) If I use NFS to map the remote Linux server, which server (win2000 or Linux) will response for data transfer? Normally, the Linux server should response for data transfer. But I don't know whether the media files need to transfer to Win2000 server first and then transfer to users.

(2) If I put .htaccess at the Linux server, when user stream the media file, will they ask for a username and password?

I know this topics is hard to answer because not everyone got the experiences. But any comments regarding NFS or anything related is welcome;)

Thanks in advanced.
