Do you know domain name registars with free online transfer of ownership?

Well.. With OpenSRS resellers, it's kind of considered as free transfer of ownership. All you have to do is change the contact information and the login. No fee what so ever.

You can do the same thing at stargateinc now.

I have [almost] all of my domains with directNIC. They're an openSRS registrar and they have excellent service. They have a transfer option which is a piece of cake.

... but i think all that registrars ask for a notarized letter of the sale. Is there a registrar that dont ask for that?

No openSRS registar asks for a letter of sale, all you have to do is change the info on file, done thru http://manage.opensrs.net

I have been using http://www.easyhosting.com for all of my domains, only $20 cdn, which is really cheap in US dollars.

I have all my domains through DirectNIC.com ...
They are cheap only $15 a year.
They allow you to configure everthing you would need to configure: DNS, Forwarding, Profile, etc.
You can even host your website there for free if you get in a bind (do it yourself setup).
I say that because their webhosting really dosen't have any features for professional website. It could only provide a shell of a site (of course you don't really have to do that either, ahhh I'm talking too much).

Anyway I did transfer a domain to them very easilly as well.
I would never us any other registrar. If I could help it anyway. :)

am i missing something Abu Mami ?
I just bought a domain from somebody, and to change ownerships, i had to fillin paperwork, send it to the domain owner, who then sent it to DirectNic.

They told me changing of ownership online was not allowed by ICANN yet, and that they were working on it?

Weird.

:D

Stargateinc allows you to change the registrant's (owner's) name, and all other information, through their user control panel.

Weird

DirectNIC is an OpenSRS affiliate? Are you sure?

Well, last time I made some changes to the info of one of my domains that I registered with directNIC, I logged on using manage.openSRS.net to make the changes. Unless they changed in the last few days while I wasn't looking...

?? Never saw this - not mentioned on their (directNIC) site, and I never received any email requesting this. Perhaps the registrar that you're trying to transfer FROM does not yet handle automated transfers.

Very weird. They have a transfer page where all you have to do is enter the names of the domains you wish to transfer. As I mentioned above, maybe your current registrar can't handle automated transfers. If that's the case, I would imagine that directNIC would then need some forms to be filled out in order to handle the transfer process.

The process was easy, but it ended up that the domain I wanted to transfer was locked by the previous registrar. I goofed and tried to transfer one of my "free" domains. I'll have to buy it first, and then transfer it some other time. When I get a chance, I'll try transferrring one of my other domains (that I have at one of the high-priced registrars) and see if that doesn't go any smoother. From what I understand, it's an almost automatic process.
