I'm thinking about hiring a company to manage the security issues of my server.
Any comments on these two providers? Anyone know of any other companies?
twastudios 10-17-2003, 11:09 AM Cheetaweb hands down.
Gpan is the owner of Cheetaweb. Do a search in the RS forums for 'gpan' and you'll find that his contributions to Ensim development, Linux etc are extensive.
While I've not needed his services, I do have associates of his who will swear by his knowledge.
Cheers.
forumtalk 10-17-2003, 07:06 PM Two Times I sent mail to them but never Get answers from cheetaweb.com also They have a live support System But Every time Offline
http://www.easyservermanagement.com/index.html hey I sent may e-mail they send reply within 10-15 Min . We hope To Get Their Service. :)
cbtrussell 10-17-2003, 07:14 PM That was my experience as well. Tried to get cheetaweb to quote on setting up 5 servers, never got a response.
Hi,
I have been using easyservermanagement for along time now.
They are do fast updates, pro active security checks.
I have to say there support is #1 out there, 24 / 7
rickkumar 10-18-2003, 06:44 PM I don't know much about ESM but I have spoken with Jeoff @ Cheetaweb.
I am not cheetaweb customer yet. I don't know if I will become one....it all depends how it unfolds in next few weeks but there is a possibility.
I submitted a ticket asking some questions from Cheetaweb about a week ago. I submitted my query using their form at their website at about 9 PM. I got response back in 10 minutes asking for my phone number where they can call me.
I sent email back and told him to call me between 9 AM to 5 PM EST next day.
Next day I was in a meeting and then called them at about 10:30 AM and as soon as I told my name, Jeoff at Cheetaweb told me that he was little busy and was just about to call me which is fine with me anyway.
I asked Jeoff many questions and he answered all my questions very professionally. He even gave great suggestions after understanding our needs.
I never felt that he was rushing or trying to sell me something.
He was very knowledgeable. I ask him things like what to do, which plan will be suitable for us, where we should host, which control panel should we use, and so on.
Well all I can say is this........Cheetaweb seems great to me. The biggest thing is their confidence level in the support that they provide. Why I say that because Jeoff never tried to sell me any thing or convince me to just consider them only. Still answered all my questions.
Just wanted to share my experience.
Thanks.
Rick Kumar
ultrafex 10-19-2003, 08:56 PM Looks like you were lucky ;) I tried to get a hold of them many times, but nobody's there. I wouldn't trust a company that lets its sales channels die.
Hi,
As I said before, www.easyservermanagement is a top notch company all the way around.
From server updates, security checks, etc, etc. I trust all my server needs to them :)
thanks

HE did some work for our company..
He does a good job, really nice & friendly guy !
thaphantom 10-20-2003, 02:48 PM I wanted to use cheetahweb one nigt, caught them on AIM he said he could do the work in the next hour... asked him to IM me when he was ready, still have yet to hear back (about 2 weeks ago). I ended up talking to RS and they did it all for me, was happy with that :)
daveborg 10-21-2003, 12:47 AM From the sounds both are excellent companies. We've got a couple of servers with ESM and they absolutely rock. They've often fixed problems before we know about them.
I know nothing of Cheetaweb, but I do know how good ESM are. A no-brainer recommendation.
BTW, do a search in the Rackshack forums for mouse or webcite!!
I also tried to contact cheeta several times, no replies at all
cbtrussell 10-21-2003, 02:08 PM We answer most inquiries within 1 hour; where did you send your emails that you did not get a response to.
Hi Geoff,
I know it sounds like we're ganging up on you, and that's not the case - but it does look like you may have an issue that needs to be investigated.
I can't speak for anyone else, but my inquiry was sent to the address on your contact page, support AT cheetaweb.com on 10/1/2003 at 10:25AM.
Brandon
I will have it looked into - but that was a couple of weeks ago. Sometimes the help desk system does not pipe mail correctly and it gets lost.
You can always contact us via IM or phone if you don't get a response to verify that an inquiry was received.
Varun Shoor 10-21-2003, 02:47 PM We have used Cheetaweb services earlier to outsource our installations and I can personally vouch for them.
Geoffrey was very professional whenever we had any jobs for him and took personal care in all pending jobs.
matt_01 10-21-2003, 03:02 PM he's like the master of any support site !
Just 1 thing is wirred.. I can allways reach him online.. Look's like gpan does not need any sleep :) :)

You can say that again, I do not remember ANY time that he was not available and ready to get on a issue within a few minutes. If he is not available to do the job at the moment he usually gets someone to look into it within a few minutes which is great.
I have tried a few companies for server management (not including ESM) and cheetaweb is the cream of the crop from what I have seen.
Doobla 10-21-2003, 03:31 PM I just wanted to throw my $.02 worth in here. I'm an EV1 customer and so I am very active on their forums but not so much here at the moment. I saw this thread and thought that those who were interested could benefit from my experiences with Cheetaweb.
I had a reseller account with him and his company and loved the service. i could tell by the way that he had my DNS set up and the way I saw him run his server that he knew what he was doing. He has since stopped offering reseller accounts to focus on his management services which I can appreciate. While I have never paid him a dime for management services he has stepped up to the plate many of times to help me...and not because I am some personal friend or anything either, but because that is how he is. I have seen him help many of people out of a jam just out of the kindness of his heart.
I would whole heartedly recommend him and his company to anybody and I plan on using his services in the future as my business grows. I have tried contacting many of the other server management companies that are around without even a response from them so I am sold on Cheetaweb.
I guess I would say, try them out. If you don't like the service then you can always switch, but I don't think you'll ever leave.

dbcorp 10-21-2003, 06:17 PM Gpan and his Server Management team of Men and Women are a ***** 5 Star Company
When we needed to handle Admin services that were out sourced, we searched thoroughly through the many available knowledgable companies providing this service.
We narrowed it down to 4 companies.
Cheetaweb and EasyServerManagement were both in that list of the final 4.
When it came time to narrow it down the company we choose, it was a decision based on experience, knowledge, adaptability and success at both problem solving and at sheer flexibility of knowing many web hosting appliances software such as the many control panels we provide.
Both companies had their share of experts and both with very experienced server admins.
Both companies offered real time or near real time response.
We had tried to email and message both companies and i have to honestly say both companies did a great job on quickly answering our messages. In our opinion both companies are very experienced, knowledgable and responsive in real time.
After much deliberation we concluded the far reaching appliance variation knowledge such as Plesk, Ensim, cPanel and Red Hat plain were of foremost importance.
Our choice in the end was Cheetaweb, due to the ability of Gpan and his team to solve problems in any control panel appliance. You could see hundreds of his fixes in the forums on RS, even before ensim or the control panel developer even knew the problem was there, never mind trying to solve it. Gpan has always been there and in our opinion has great in depth knowledge and experience to manage any server platform.
And the rest of the Cheetaweb crew are superb as well, they are definitely more knowledgable in a variety of areas due to Gpan's experience.
Their service is top notch, and we would recommend anyone seriously looking into hiring a server Admin company, to experience the vast knowledge time and experience that comes with having Cheetaweb as you server management team or monitoring team.
In all fairness we personally think that the EasyServerManagement team is also very knowledgable and experienced.
When choosing a management team for your servers you cant go wrong with either company.
Both companies, Cheetaweb and EasyServerManagement deserve the respect and gratitude of many hundreds of server owners who hire these two companies and are very pleased.
We have 4 (Ensim Pro, Plesk 5 and 6, Cpanel ) servers with them now and are slowly migrating our other 6 servers over, and are bringing many more on line shortly and have always been very pleased at their response time and their experience, which also in our opinion should be your final deciding factor when choosing a great server management team.
Our final opinion is with both companies Cheetaweb and EasyServerManagement, you cant loose, their both great.
We chose, in the final descision, the experience, flexibility and reliable service of Cheetaweb.

Chazhound 10-22-2003, 12:49 AM I have two servers that Cheetaweb set up
with ensim pro panels and they did a super
job and was very helpful for the cost.
My biggest concern is that since gpan sold out to a
Korean company that the work load is too great now.
He only has so much time. Sean and Geoff are always available
online and it is rare that you don't see Cheetaweb online.
Awesome.
I would recommend them to anyone needing general
administration and security monitoring for their server.
Tom O'Connor 10-22-2003, 06:34 PM I consider cheetaweb.com to be more than just our Server Management company, they are our business partner. We are always delighted to refer our clients to cheetaweb, because we know that they will be provided with the same great service. cheetaweb always help us out, especially when it matters most.
I have contacted them many times though their support line. Every time I called I got a real person no answering machines.
Earlier hours of the morning after a hard drive crash these guys have been their to pick up the pices (backups) and put things back together.
Experts with ensim to be honest I have dealt with other established companys from WHT which I will not name and I never got the level of service or expertise that I got from cheetaweb.
If it is mission critical solutions you are supplying, these are the guys to manage your network.
Regards
Thomas O'Connor.
MaxHosting 10-22-2003, 07:58 PM Well a few months back I stumbled upon Cheetaweb through the ad in Modern Bill. They set up my first server, and made the MB order form work. They also installed my Kayako system. Then I asked if they could help with mb integration, kayako integraion, and Ensim Integration. They referred me to someone who has helped me quite a lot. The name is John and he has very good prices for all those things. displayhosting.com is his address.
Anyways, back to Cheetaweb. I decided to get my RS server managed by them as well, and they have done great so far, they upgraded all of the software to the current versions. I can reach them 24/7 via aim. That is how I usually contact them. Just last night at 5am my time I was up pondering the new server to purchase. They gave me some good advice. I purchased the new server this afternoon, and am waiting for Ev1 to reset my password, then I will give the word to the CheetaWeb crew, and they will set this up and add it to the management.
Bottom line- For low hastle server management and setup, Cheetaweb gets the job done!:D
UOIndustries 10-23-2003, 01:44 AM Cheetaweb is a godsend!! They never cease to amaze me.....fast server setup and move in..also hooked me up wit an outside person they use for installing MB.........they answer all my questions, even early in the morning
Today they got my server backup and running in ilke 30mins when it had been down all day at RS(it crashed so RS pulled it and didnt give it back to us 7hrs later)--still had to be fixed once we had it back
so yea..Cheetaweb knows its stuff
