Therefore it doesnt apply to me, right? mjehlenz 10-17-2003, 10:48 AM To me that looks like the german VAT. Regards, Moritz Joseph_M 10-17-2003, 11:23 AM ? How the hell did you read USt and get VAT? Just because its the same % doesn't mean its the same thing... RapidFire - So it shouldn't apply to you, they'd still have to charge you VAT though and pay it to the UK government (strangely) so its up to you if you want to pay 16% or 17.5%...however they may not do UK VAT (currently in debate over enforcing it) in which case you get away with it. Tazzman 10-17-2003, 01:03 PM the st stands for steuer, which is German for tax. Not sure about the U, as it's usually Merhwardsteuer (German version of VAT). If you live in the EU and rent a server within the EU, practically all companies will charge you the local tax rate, following EU tax regulations. Just one more reason for US EU folk to get servers in the US. henker 10-17-2003, 08:47 PM The correct term for German VAT is Umsatzsteuer, hence the "USt." "Mehrwertsteuer" is another (informal) term for it.
