I just want to get an opinion from people.
Do you think there is a need for a new user control panel. Something like cpanel or alabanza but less buggy and with better and quicker support?

If you answered yes, do you think $300/server license fee would be a reasonable price for this control panel? Would you purchase it?

And do you have any suggestions for this software?

Thank you in advance.

No, I think people are satisfied with the buggy more expensive ones out now. I can't see a need for something less buggy really. That is really 1/2 the fun of working with these systems.

Would I buy it? Show me 'it' and I'll tell you.

heh,
mnbv.

Are you a programmer looking for a project to get into, to make money or something?

I think its a pretty crowded market as it is.

But if you make an AWESOME panel, im sure you could get quite a few sales...especially at 300$ one time license fee, thats at least half the price of every other one out there.

Who knows.
'If you build it, they will come'

Right?

If anyone can comes out something less buggy, why not go ahead. I am sure all host out there will more than happy to switch a less buggy one.

This is a one time fee or annually or monthly?

That will be great if it is one time fee. :D

And honestly, nowaday the Control Panel for Linux market are bit crowded. What not start something on Windows2000 / NT / BSD / raq?

just my 1+1 cents.

$300 one time would be very, very nice - but $300 per month is way to expensive.
And, there are several new control panels in the pipeline and expected to be released soon: Plesk 2.0, NocSoft, Webpanel and the new one from JaguarPC. You will have much competition.

Someone mentioned about other control panels comming out soon. Are they all for *nix systems?
Is there a good control panel for Win NT/2000 servers?

Thanks for all your replies i really appreciate it.

Instead of coming out with something new it's better to improve of what you have now. Switching control panels is not a 5 minutes job.

Well since Cpanel's and Plesk's source is encrypted, thats not really possible...

It could be a 5-15 min job with a properly coded conversion script *WINK,WINK* ;)

This is not a new idea. It has been around for some time now. It is not a problem of creating conversion scripts, it is a problem trying to move customers using apples to using oranges. Sure, loads of docs can help, but the fact remains, support up goes during the conversion and customers once happy with one panel, must now use a new one.

This is why it is so important to do your research when picking a CP.

Not when that new ones end panel resembles the old one but the underlying code is different. And clients may never know it changed besides the addition of new features. It can and will be done.

You have a control panel coming out right.. Is there any demo of this yet.. We use Plesk, Ensim and Cpanel so we have played with them all like one thing in one but some thing in anther so we let our tech play with them to learn them all.. :) But would like some info on yours, would like to have one we could use all the way around.. :)

This I got to see. I would love to see a CP that lets Plesk guys port to this new panel, or Ensim port over for example. That would be sweat if there was.
