Hi There,

I have a Raq4r.... how does one get the following information:

*5:24pm up 72 days, 21:11, 1 user, load average: 60.39, 61.48, 39.55*

When I go to my Raq Admin... I get some of this... but not displayed as such...

My 15 minute load average is usually around .2 What are normal numbers for a Raq4r?

Thanks,

Dico

Sorry... my server only has a load of .2 or .25. The line in between the * is one that I cut and pasted from an earlier post.

I am just wondering where I would find that complete information. Do you get it from the command line?

Thanks,

-Dico

yeah you need to log in with telnet or ssh and run the command uptime

Thanks for the help.

Here are my results...

8:29pm up 20 days, 8:59, 1 user, load average: 0.19, 0.17, 0.11

How high can the load averages go before I should bring in a new server?

Thanks,

-Dico

I wouldn't bring in a new server only based on that, but in my experience a Raq max out around 4.0 (no idea how the first poster got a load of 60... maybe he's running a Cray :-)

What else besides load would you base it on?

Cobalt says it can host up to 200 sites. Although reading here people say realistically around 80-120...

what are the determining factors?

The load is a good reference, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating...

When webservers, MySQL, whatever you have, start to be sluggish, you better do something cuz that's when most customers start looking around for a new host :-)

Just my 5c...

I host a few cobalt servers and a few of them has ran up to 200 sites They are working great. I have hand only one problem. One customer decided to use 2GB per day and brought that server down. I have since then moved thier domain to a dedicated server and its working ok.

I have test how many sites I can put on one server to up to 250 on a cobalt raq4i but you better make sure that they are low to no usage sites.
