Hmm, they cannot even think of their own "Latest News"

I hate it when this happens, you put time and effort into building your website, only for some scam artist who calls himself a "web designer" to go and copy it and sell it to another host.

I recommend you write a strongly worded email to the host, incude your proof, and mention legal action etc. - I find that normally works.

Best of Luck
Matt

Yep, done that. The reason why i found out that he is using our design was that he uploaded the html pages onto his server ...with the images still linking to our servers. *hint* log files *hint*

Aloha
what did they say ???
did a designer sell it to them ???

what did they have before that ???

funny this copying stuff in the webhosting industry is so funny (sad)
could be designers copying and selling the sites or host owners copying sites
either way the webhosts sites seem to be the most copied form of a genre of web related internet sites ;)

(edited the above my first read all wrong ;)

they are very very alike Kiwi
keep us posted
like you wouldn't
hehehhehe
best of luck man ;)

arrghhhhh
I wana be a pirate make me walk the plank

or cut off there hands that way it will be hard for them to copy ;)

They haven't replied to my emails yet, but my guess is that they didn't even hire a designer, but the owner of the site probably just copied the design.

Here's an idea!

Change the TRUE file names of the images these morons are linking to to something else; update your site.

THEN, put files up that say "WE'RE IDIOTS" or something of the like up where the files they LINK to are!

I would die laughing if you did that!

Too late for that, they changed the links to their site now. :bawling: But its a good idea...i'll keep that in mind :cartman: :D

By the way, its the same company as HostingCreations.com (see http://www.hostingcreations.com/about/news.asp ). Nice way to start a new business.

HostingCash.com just took down our design, and here is the conversation i had on their live support:

Tamer from support is here!
Tamer : Hello Marc, and welcome to Hosting Creations. How may I assist you today?
You : good afternoon, this is Marc Wyss from MCHost Inc.
Tamer : How may i help you Marc?
You : if i understand right, you own and operate HostingCash.com ?
Tamer : we got your email this morning
Tamer : and we applogize for this.
Tamer : we took down the web site this morning
You : can you please let me know the reason why you've been using our design?
Tamer : I do not own, i'am a manager over here.
You : can you please give me the phone number of the owner?
You : by the way, the design is still up
Tamer : It was only up for 1-2 days, and we took it down. We have already spoken to the web designers
Tamer : the web site is down
You : well, the website is still up here.
Tamer : we took down the web site this morning
Tamer : www.hostingcash.com ?
Tamer : should not be online no more
You : can you please give me the phone number of the owner of HostingCreations?
Tamer : The owner is currently our of town, iam running untill he gets back. He has no knowledge of this. But we assure you that the web site will not go back up again with your design. As we already got rid of 2 of our web designers.
Tamer : We deeply apoilogize for this.
You : i still wish to talk to the owner of HostingCreations
You : how can you get rid of 2 web designers without your owner knowing about anything?
Tamer : Because iam a Co-Owner of this company.
Tamer : We have not even advertised it yet. So no one knows about this web site, and that we hi jacked your design.
Tamer has left the session.

And here we go ...another company ( http://www.digital-webhosting.com ) just 'informed' us that their designer was inspired by our design; that it seems close however nothing was stolen. But they would of course change the design if i wished so. You be the judge:

Why can't you people come up with your own ideas?!! :(

Looks like a copy to me. I would ask them to change their design.

My opinion of the digital-webhosting site is that it looks cluttered, and isn't great at the moment so let them keep it that way.

HostingCash sound like scam artists, from that conversation I read, I wouldn't want to be a client of them...

I just tried to hit their site and it is down for me. So it does look like they complied with your request but the true questions is, for how long? They could do this for a month or so until the heat wears off and then put it back up. Especially since they have another site, hostingcreations.com, that is obviously still their business. I found the following for their WHOIS lookup and it is the same for both domains:

poor Kiwi see what happens when ya have nice stuff everybody wants it ;)

good luck man

OT>
Also for you other hosts who are buying these killer looking designs for a few hundred bucks ya got to wonder where they came form
if anyone here knows good design it takes a while to come up with designs that are good
even if ideas are borrowed they should be rebuilt and modified for your site and not reused
just some food for thought to those who buy cheap webdesigns

Update on the 2nd design: It was not Digital Webhosting's owner's (http://www.digital-webhosting.com) fault, but the designer they hired was inspired by our design and simply copied/edited it.
