How effective are they? What exactly do they do? Yes, I use their paid services, but there is also a free service and both are effective. The more people who use services like this, the sooner the spam will be reduced :) Here is some reading from their site that might explain the internal workings. http://www.spamcop.net/#map Luke 10-15-2003, 04:29 AM Originally posted by ub3r most of those anti-spam services are just scams to get your money, an open source server-side solution is usually your best bet to ditching the spam :) good luck. Thats just the attitude that ends up promoting spam. Spamcop is one of the worlds largest anti-spam systems and respected by all. When they send a spam report out to a provider, they jump. As anon-e-mouse says, the more people that use services like this, the sooner we can start finding clean inboxes. Luke Kimmikat 10-15-2003, 05:21 AM I have a couple of friends that use that service and they are happy with it... blue27 10-15-2003, 06:20 AM I have been using their free service for about a month now for a single account. The spam I am receiving on this account is coming from the same company and I receive 2 per day. (It's a relatively new account) I have reported through the spamcop interface every single email and they continue to come. I would have to say I am not impressed enough with their free service to sign up with the paid service. anon-e-mouse 10-15-2003, 06:57 AM Is it the same IP everytime though blue? These spammers switch IPs and URLs faster than we change our underwear  blue27 10-15-2003, 08:18 AM No, not the same IP Anon. I was kind of hoping SpamCop would be able to trace things back to an originator. This is a customer service account and I don't want spam to become an issue. |
