View Full Version : email hosting only
sagel 10-14-2003, 02:16 PM ive got a domain that i use jsut for email at this point, and am looking for dedicated email hosting. why pay for web space i dont need?
right now im using a host with an imail (islip?) interface and love it. so im looking for cheap and reliable, preferably imail, email hosting. any suggestions?
and hosters, feel free to email me once if that's cool with the forum.
thanks,
corey
VanHost 10-14-2003, 03:40 PM Just curious as to what is considered cheap? There are a few hosts offering $10 / month packages with webspace and unlimited emails.
RahulS 10-14-2003, 06:00 PM What would your definition of "cheap" be?
sagel 10-14-2003, 07:02 PM i guess thats the question - how cheap can i get it for?
VanHost 10-14-2003, 07:06 PM You mentioned that you are with a host that you love, why are you switching?
Also, in my opinion, cheap and good don't fall in the same sentence, but that is dependent on my definition of cheap.
Thanks.
sagel 10-15-2003, 02:11 AM no, i love the imail interface, not the host. the host is offline a dozen times a day and i rely on email for business, so this is becoming a problem. so im looking for a service i can rely on.

in often times, when a webhost refers to "webspace" it means all the space that you use, whether it be distributed via httpd, pop3d, mysql, or anything. So when you say that you don't need webspace, you actually do, because that is the data that is being distributed with email .
with that being said, i recommend nxserve.com plan 1: they will give you this:
- 200 MB Disk Space
- 10 Gb Multi-homed Bandwidth Monthly
- 25 E-mail POP/SMTP/IMAP Accounts
- Unlimited E-mail Aliases/Autoresponders
- Mailing List Manager
- WebMail
- Server Side Script Support [PHP/Perl/Python/SSI]
- MySQL Databases (5)
- PHP MyAdmin db Management
- 25 FTP Accounts
- FTP Server @ Your Domain
- FrontPage 2002 Support (Installed on request)
- SSH (Secure Shell)
- Unlimited Subdomains
- 2 Parked/Addon Domains
- Website Control Panel
- File Manager
- Protected Directories
- Detailed Traffic Reports
- Personal and Professional Service
- And much more...
good luck :)

Good point Ub3r. Granted, you don't need MUCH space if you are going to download all of your email to an email client (ie. Outlook, etc.)...but nevertheless, you need space.
many people who use multiple computers configure outlook to leave messages on the server, after they are downloaded, after a while, attachments fill of space.
but then, you would still need bandwidth.
VanHost 10-15-2003, 02:36 AM Also true. All these things to consider are making me thirsty :D
