View Full Version : Who Uses Smart Hosting Controller?
checkall 08-29-2001, 02:48 AM Hi,
Anyone knows or uses Smart Hosting Controller? Is it good or bad?
The programming company says there are 30 companies that use its automated program, but "it just doesn't record their URLs" so that it cannot let's visit those sites using Smart Hosting Controller.
What is it afraid of releasing its happy customers' sites anyway?
Any information may be helpful.
ksstudio 08-29-2001, 04:00 AM I know this company using it --> http://sitebysize.com
:)
checkall 08-29-2001, 04:17 AM Thanks.
Let's contact it for more info.
checkall 08-29-2001, 06:07 PM I know this company using it --> http://sitebysize.com
No, it uses Hostingcontroller which is a NT program, instead of SmartHostingController.
It looks like very few sites using SmartHostingController. This might be a problem.
davidb 08-29-2001, 07:14 PM I waiting for the freebsd version, which Im told will be tommarow. I bought it some time ago. I think if it gets stable it will be one of the better ones.
sitebysize 09-02-2001, 10:24 PM have you look at H-Sphere?
http://psoft.net
checkall 09-03-2001, 01:48 AM H-Sphere looks good. Do you use it?
Thanks.
sitebysize 09-04-2001, 02:04 AM no, not yet, just talk to them few times.
not only look good, but prices is very good too.
checkall 09-04-2001, 02:09 AM Yah, $4.5 per domain account is good. But support charge looks pretty high.
We have to get two servers to have it work. This is not a problem.

Boksoft 09-12-2001, 06:37 AM I would like to clarify that the user "SmartCGI" is a former business partner of me, who decided to go his own way after making agreements. This person is not a customer, and does not have any information about our company / products. So do not take his comments seriously.
DavidB:
The FreeBSD version is ready. You can download it from the Customer Area

I failed to find it at your site
Boksoft 09-12-2001, 08:09 AM Of course you can't find it. It's a protected area for customers only.
And you are not a customer.

Just watch this thread and you'll see everything yourself.
I think features of this software are usefull ;)
It's kinda new software, it would be great to know detailes of it.
What do you think ?
davidb 09-12-2001, 01:51 PM what about hakweb.com? I have been waiting for that and emailing you and not one single responce.
I looked at the site, Refreshed it, but still did not see the freebsd version

I think your first comments in this thread may have hinted at an ulterior motive and that if you have a problem with a former partner, I'll ask you to discuss it with them off forum. If not, then be happy and discuss it as you wish.

I see
I just would like to know some features of this software. Some guys are asking about this software, and being expert in CP, I could make public investigation of it.
Thank you very much for your carrying.
Boksoft 09-13-2001, 08:47 AM Please email us at sales@smarthostingtools.com if you have any questions.
davidb 09-13-2001, 09:20 AM I have a question but my emails are not responded to. Or one in 5 of mine are. Read my last post.
cgisupp 09-24-2001, 06:14 PM I would like to check out Smart Hosting Controller, but it appears they are in no hurry to answer their email. Has anybody else experienced this level of service?
xinganlia 09-26-2001, 01:21 AM Not too bad.
Last time I just try to email them and ask some questions. They replied within 24 hours . (I'm in Australia.)
That's enough.
cgisupp 09-26-2001, 02:20 AM Ok thanks for that, is anybody actually using SHC?
cyberjack 09-29-2001, 03:19 PM We have it installed on a server for testing. We were very pleased with the way you can edit the interface, we like the way you can set up packages, we *love* the way users can sign up or upgrade themselves automatically and also the way this info goes straight to a 'set up list' in the server admin screens so we can see the status fo all new orders. It has a lot of very nice features and until today the email support has been ok. Not great, but usually same day/next day replies.
I say until today, because we were just running some last tests before we started migrating our customer base to this server when we found out that we couldn't get email working properly. So we emailed Smart Hosting Tools. Then we emailed again. And again. My last email told them that if we didn't receive a reply shortly we were going to get a refund and look for another control panel. I wouldn't usually over react this way, but we need to move customers to this new server right now (problems at previous datacentre) and this one tiny glitch has put our whole business in danger, totally unnecessarily.
This afternoon I called Tim at Plesk and he talked me through a demo of Plesk 2.0, at his house, on the weekend, on his kid's birthday no less! He took an hour out of his Saturday to help us out. I'm still not keen on the Plesk interface, and I will miss the automatic signup features and rebranding that SHC gave us, but at the end of the day this is software that needs to be relied upon, backed up by a company who are trustworthy and contactable 24/7.
I'm still undecided. The graphic designer in me tells me to wait for a response from the SHC folks, but my head knows Plesk is the way to go.
A Web Host 03-30-2002, 07:57 PM Does anyone have any specific questions they would like to ask?
Alareach 03-30-2002, 09:07 PM Yes,
1. Why don't they answer emails anymore. I bought a license over a year ago to try it out on a server. I installed it again recently (just so I don't waste the $750) and asked them a simple support question, no reply EVER. Do you get any support from them for the product?
2. Their support section has a bunch of dead links. (you need a password to get in which I have)
3. I have not been able to get this product to work 'right' yet after 3 installs on different machines, even back when they did help me, it would have problems a week later.
It is a nice product, with features very similar to Alabanza/Cpanel (including a billing system) and there is a lot of potential, but it seems as if the developer is not serious about it.
...Just my experience.
A Web Host 03-30-2002, 09:56 PM 1. Why don't they answer emails anymore. Do you get any support from them for the product?
They have answered most of my emails, (at times they are delayed and I'm sure they were tired of hearing from me with all my questions) and they have spent alot of time making sure the SHC works on my server. I know they are working on version 2 of this product so this has been taking up some of their resources.
2. Their support section has a bunch of dead links. (you need a password to get in which I have)
Yes, their clients are given a username and password, but the only dead link I have seen for awhile is their own help desk link.
cyberjack 04-02-2002, 10:10 AM I took them up on the 30-day money back guarantee. They took no notice, so I charged back the order to my credit card (just sent the CC company print outs of all the unanswered emails). Now we use Plesk. It's boring to look at, but it's a professional system and their support is great.
davidb 04-04-2002, 01:13 PM Anyone who even buys this product is in trouble. All they do is lie.
