When calling to find out why our email was again inaccessible, the owner of IIC Internet denied that there had been previous problems. After insisting to him (and I have supply-able proof) that our whole domain was down for over 24 hours he became irate (probably based on problems he was trying to solve with his company server) and some exchanged words, he took our whole site down from the IIC server. Leaving us (again) without internet presence for 24 ? 36 hours while we switch to an accountable hosting company. Heads up on IIC Internet!

Is there any recourse for a host taking your site down when they are under contract?

It's your site. I don't believe your host has any right to it.
Like, if you rented a house; your landlord has no rights to it.
Of course, this is the internet. And I'm not a lawyer:rolleyes:
But, to address your particular situation; did you write 911@iicinternet.com when your site was first down?

They also go by web229.net, there are some comments if you search for them, but comments won't get your site up. They were my first host and I suggest you do what I did... move on.

To answer softwarerevue,
No I did not notify 911@iicinternet.com I reported it to my webmaster ay dark-thiry in the morning , as I was on my way out the door. I had noticed that I could not send emails the night before, was tired and figured it was my email program and i'd deal with it the am. In the morning I realized that it was not my program and the whole domain was down, emails were getting kicked back to senders with am "cannot reach" fatal error message. It was not until later that evening when I got home that I realized that the site was still down and it was too late to contact anyone by phone, due to time differences (I'm in Hawaii). The last email I had recieved was at 4pm Mon night and this was Tuesday night. I at least get spam on an hourly basis. I contacted IIC first thing Wednesday morning, they informed they were still working on the problem, the server was still crashing but now only for 5 mintes at a time. "Someone's scripts were crashing the site as soon as they could get it back up again."
I should have wrote the 911 email right away, then I would have a record of the problem. I do still have the email I wrote my webmaster, but I actually got in contact with IIC before he acted. I have a new webmaster also. . .
I checked the contract on IIC site, it says they have to give a four day notice before they take your site down . . .
