Hi there guys, I'm having a irritating problem with my DNS hosted on a RAQ550.

I have a domain which works with the 'www', but not without! Ping www.domain.com works but ping domain.com does't.

I want the domain to work without the 'www' (just 'http://domain.com') so I've tried adding a Forward record leaving the host bit blank (this is in the raq control panel) but it just wont let me! It keeps saying an identical record already exists.. but i can't see it, and anyhow it doesn't work even if it does exist! I tried adding a 'web server alias' under the virtual site settings as 'domain.com', but this doesn't really help..

If any of you guys could help that would be great - it currently means i can't send email using sendmail, cos it just sits in the queue saying the nameserver timed out! argh! its a fairly important domain u see..

any pointers gratefully appreciated!

[i've just seen the RAQ4 DNS thread, a similar problem - I've tried the server alias option and updated the DNS settings many times!]

hi there - apparently it is a raq bug, confirmed by the guys at the support desk! The way round it is to create the site, then go to the DNS and remove all the records for that domain and pop 'em all in by hand again...

it works tho!
