View Full Version : worldpay? what is it?
Asher S 08-28-2001, 10:46 AM Please don't think Im stupid or anything but what EXACTLY is WorldPay? I mean they're not a merchant service, but they're not exactly a thirdparty cc processor either. So what are they ? Where can u get a merchant account that allows you to show your merchant's name along with your own?
Some followups would be nice.

Chicken 08-28-2001, 08:11 PM Search for 'merchant' or 'merchant account' and you should find something. Any full merchant account offers this. All non-merchant accounts do not offer this.
Asher S 08-28-2001, 11:51 PM Tried. But world pay is NOT merchant account. Seems like AuthorizeNET are saying that you can make other charges appear like:
Somecompany by worldpy or
WP: Somecompany
or
Merchant services for Somecompany.
Chicken 08-29-2001, 01:34 AM I see what you are asking now. Basically, you want to do what world pay does and are wondering where/how, correct? I misread the last sentence, and thus my reply was a bit off. I'm not certian where/how this could be done.
Asher S 08-29-2001, 01:47 AM as i said authorizenet says that this is possible.

worldpay is the service which allow other companies to accept credit cards without having there own merchange account. In this way worldpay act as an reseller. In legal terms worldpay.com buy goods and service from you and resale it to your customers.
worldpay also provides secure credit card service where if you have your own merchant account you can use there credit card gatway and worldclass software. I love there service. If you want to automate your credit card processing this is the best company i have ever seen in my life.
cheers.
Asher S 08-29-2001, 05:21 AM lol i know that much too, but i dont get one thing, why would any one want to spend so much on a worldpay account? LIke for years it costs hundreds of pounds. You can get a merchant account for less.
We were told by the banks here that we would have to sustain a certain income to have a merchant account to process cards as well, it would cost upwards of $2000 which in our case it is much cheaper to go with worldpay. Thats why.

well in india it costs around $1000 + $100 every month + 5% transaction fees + suck system with 20% free downtime. So worldpay.com is the best option for me.
that's why. ;)
Craig 08-30-2001, 07:50 PM we use worldpay.. they are amazing.
Customer support is fab too - helped us out with some tricky bits on the phone no bother.
Also good as a fresh pair of eyes to look over code.
One bloke looked over a few hundred lines of php code and spotted an error for us.. which was nice :]
Go with them - they wont disapoint.
Regards
Craig

Do you ever tryied Sfcommerce? they provide you your own merchant account.
$299 Setup Fee
$0.25 + 2.75% per transaction
$25 minimun transaction fee.
The only thing bad that I see with SF is that you can only accept Visa/Mastercard and you can't do recurring charge. You must do it manually all months. I still don't find it a software that can work with Sfcommerce.
But the fee are greats, the support a bit slow (24+ hrs most of the time for an answer).
And they accept people outside of USA :)
Jedito 08-30-2001, 08:09 PM Back to topic. I think that Worldpay also offer merchant accounts.
but I remember something like the prices is near $600 Setup fee.
But I can't remember the transactions fee that they apply.
Asher S 08-30-2001, 11:44 PM firsrtly worldpay doesnt accept mercahnts from pakistan where as sfcommerce does. So theres no point in going with wp. But still i am VERY interested in knowing how they've arranged that the merchants name apper on cc statements. Authorzenet says its possible but wont tell me more :(
