Palm 08-28-2001, 12:40 PM They are excellent service, they have a lot of notification messages it will help you keep your uptime better. It sounds like you're talking specifically about the uptime monitoring service at qwkmon.net, while Elle was apparently referring to webhosting from qwk.net. Granted, the same company, but different services with possibly different reputations. Just to clarify, though I don't first-hand knowledge of either one. neil 08-28-2001, 01:43 PM in the past week I've received two alerts from them but upon checking on the machine and connectivity I can find nothing wrong with it. Other tools such as WhatsUP (running on my home machine) noticed no problems. Now my uptime is reported as something like 98.75, when in reality I haven't had any (noticable) down time. -neil elle 08-28-2001, 02:04 PM Yeah - I'm interested in feedback about both QWK.net and QWK.mon WTFHosting 08-28-2001, 02:30 PM I've had similar problems with false downtime reports.... But for the price, you can hardly argue. Netwhistle.com was the previous network monitoring service we used, never had a false alert, very relaible, but very pricey... Palm 08-28-2001, 02:31 PM Oh I though about server monitoring software. B-Broker 08-28-2001, 02:33 PM Their monitoring service SUCKS. It said my site was down when it was really UP. elle 08-28-2001, 02:46 PM how long have you been using them? do they give you false downtime reports often? Deb Suran 08-28-2001, 03:04 PM Elle, I don't use qwkmon so I can't tell you anything about that service. I have an active online forum, and my members and staff let me know pretty quick if something's wrong. And it's better to get a false report of "down" than a false report of "up". <g> I'm a happy QWK.Net customer (dedicated server) since January of this year. Downtime has been minimal, problems are corrected quickly, most of them have been caused by the very demanding forum software we use. Just take it to the telephone and not to e-mail and you'll get immediate service. Walter 08-28-2001, 04:28 PM Regarding qwkmon.net (monitoring service): never got a false alarm. They have two servers and if one of them send fals reports you should contact them. |
