View Full Version : Rackshack Down!!
Kamil 08-28-2001, 09:08 AM RackShack.net seems to be down since the last few hours around 6 to be prescise, I was about to signup with them and now I see this, any comments / feedback on this one? are the allotted servers up, does anybody know anything. I was beginning to trust them
Kamil 08-28-2001, 09:29 AM Is it a coincidence or what, no sooner I post this thread RackShack is back in action, should the credits go to WHT or what, any reasons why it was down? and what was the state of their servers for atleast 6 hours
captnroger 08-28-2001, 11:45 AM Rackshack wasn't entirely down, I never received any alerts, that's for sure.
headsurfer 08-28-2001, 12:17 PM Rackshack was NOT down. The server that servers up our own web site was moved within our network but an access list was not updated quite soon enough, so some segments could not see our front page. Our customer's Raqs were not affected.
You can look at our network performance by clicking on the network usage link on our home page to see that there were no problems with our network.
I am sorry for any confusion and inconvenience. Our network is undergoing some reconfiguration in preparation for the turn up of the new Juniper routers.

Kamil 08-28-2001, 12:52 PM Thanks for the feedback, it happned so that I planned to signup and i saw the website not working for more than 6 hours, you can undertand how would a potential customer feel about all this, Thanks again ;)
domingo 08-28-2001, 01:50 PM Headsurfer,
I can bet that you cant resolve this.
Unfortunately my IP doesnt allow me to access the online signup page. The alternate is to print the agreement, complete it and fax it to RackShack. Sounds like too much work.
I know you cant help me, becuase due to some previous bad experiences RachShack has implemented this. The reason of this post is just to register my concerns about the alternate method.
Domingo - Want to be RackShack User, only by signing up online.
P.S. Headsurfer have you ever noticed that all fingers are not equal.

Hey Domingo,
You should understand that they have security problems and that is why they have blocked some ip addresses. If you want to become there customer by signup online then try through different isp or you should not be having any trouble faxing them agreement.
Cheers and try to understand them. Anway they are not and should not going to change there security system because of one customer. :cartman:
Chicken 08-28-2001, 08:20 PM domingo, please email specific questions to rackshack's support address.
headsurfer 08-28-2001, 08:52 PM Security is pretty important to the EV1 companies that include Rackshack.net .
Early on, we have real substantial difficulties due to some less than reputable folks on certain IP blocks.
We feel it very important to not only protect our servers and teh servers of our customers, but also the credit card processing relationship with our bank.
As we now process around $2 million in electronic payments monthly, we simply cannot risk losing that relationship.
I am sorry that we will lose some customers due to this but it is better to lose a few rather than close due to the inability to process electronic payments.

domingo 08-29-2001, 03:47 AM Ok, I understand.
Sometimes one cannot get what he wants. :bawling:
But nothing against RackShack.Net or others who have these sort of arrangements.
