This was just posted to the comp.unix.admin,comp.unix,comp.windows.x,comp.client-server newsgroups. This is NOT ontopic at all. Guess business wasn't good enough so they resort to having people post this crap. This url redirects to http://www.rackshack.net/index.asp.

Don't jump the gun.

Spam is always annoying but this from someone who signed up as a Rackshack affiliate, not from Rackshack themselves. I think you can safely assume he just resigned himself from the affiliate program.

Look at the headers (from the original news group post) :

From: Raymond Chin <rchin@atlasi.com>
X-Complaints-To: business-support@verizon.com
..that's where you should complain.

I am sure you will see an official reply from Raqshack on this!

Yep. My fault there as I realize now he was probably just a reseller or something. Just gets irritating when you're reading comp.unix.admin to see posts about "free Shell Accounts" and webhosting ads. ;)

I just tried to email their support, and my message bounced.

The bounce mail said something about orbl.org.

Dunno if this is coincidence or not....

As a matter of policy, we do not tolerate spammers whether they be a dialup customer, hosting customer, or affiliate.

In most instances, we will warn offenders prior to cancelling their service although we reserve the right to cancel them without warning.

We have warned the offender and will cancel the offenders service if another infraction exists.

We recognize the importance of strong anti-spam policies and will continue to enforce our AUP/TOS as well as the terms of our affiliate program.

I recieved a email from rackshack saying someone used my raq for spam, and that you could take it down for that.

Well I sent in a reply over a week ago and didn't get a reply, so im taking it that you guys don't really care.

Anyways, if it is a customer of mine who used the server to send spam, is there a way to protect spam from being sent through the server? - Because I cannot baby sit customers, all I do is give them 1 warning, and then second time it happens I resolve by giving them the necessary charges for abusing TOS.

My point is I would be awefully p'd off if you guys take down one of my servers and make my customers websites all go down because of something one of my customers has done.... so any help on things to do?

As a matter of record:

I handle abuse complaints for Rackshack.net.

Shortly after receiving the email in question it was replied to. After seeing this post this morning I have resent it.

This matter will continue to be handled on a private basis outside of this forum.

Rackshack's policies on Spam are available on our website, they are in place to protect the integrity of our network and are strictly enforced.
