Yes, I still have Windows 3.1 on an old 486 PC sitting around somewhere. As to whether I actually use it is a different matter ;)

Have 3.1 and 3.11 .. three point one one was better as it had "networking" what ever that meant.
I also have dos 6 which had "double space" (i think that was the name) which was recoiled because it had been ripped of another company ... 6.01 was released without disc compression, then 6.02 was released with the new improved disc compression, which was actually the same ripped program but with a few cosmedic alterations and a new name.

Talking about windows there was actually a program released before windows by a different company (not Microsoft) that was better than windows ... it was actually a whole suite, with word processor, graphics, games, data base, printer drivers, cd and sound drivers etc etc and you could run it on any machine including the old XT's ..... Geoworks.

Does anybody still have a copy of Nibbles and Gorilla ?

Forgot to mention I also have an old version of MS office on floppy discs ... 54 discs. It took forever to install, got up to disc 48 once and found disc 49 was faulty

Yeah I've got a copy of IBM OS2 (which of course was actually one of the very first versions of Windows NT... as Microsoft wrote it).

One of the teachers at my school came across a copy of Windows 1 -- I didn't even know the thing existed. So in a lab of GHZ+ machines running Win2K, there was one with Windows 1 on it. It was pretty neat to play around with, actually, although I think I'll stick to 2K/Linux.

And if you thought 3.1 was lacking... :) (Heh, found some screenshots -- http://www.infosatellite.com/news/2001/10/a251001windowshistory_screenshots.html#win101 -- the site's crawling for some reason, though.)

Argh the win1.0 to XP screenshots are on a slow server, got about half an image and it has changed beyond belief lol.

edit: Haha, it's loaded and the funniest part is the "File.txt is too Large!"

too funny, I could type for hours now and never go to that point.

I've still got my Windows 3.1 disks, along with a CD that shipped with my IBM Aptiva 486. Didn't come with dos disks, though. You're supposed to make those yourself using the cd.

I have a box sitting on my shelf that has MS Windows on it (1.0), I should try installing it sometime. :) Funny thing is that the original windows, couldnt even show one window on top of another. And its had DOS's superb ability to multi-task

You would be suprised of some of the AOL fanatic's in my area, they would probably have something similar, and take a look at Ebay, they sell them as collector items! (Or they had some)
