Last month my site did 25,500 page-views, and used 5.1GB of bandwitdh. this month it has used 8.79GB on 26,200 page-views.

What is goinjg on here.

I am with Tera Byte. Has anyone else been having high bandwidth useage, that doesn't make sense?

Support gave me the run around about this. at this point, the site could use 20GB next month with only 30,000 page-views. each page is a MAX 100KB.

Becuase the site doesn't have advertising, I can't afford to pay anymore to run it.

is the server running mod_gzip ?

the bandwidth difference may be people refreshing the page or staying on the site until the page has downloaded fully, some people simple slick the site, realise they dont want to be there, this causes it to register a hit but doesnt use much transfer.

if they stay there until its downloaded, it registers a hit AND uses the transfer.

make an intro page for the site which has only text on with a simple graphics, this way if people accidentally go there they can leave again without using transfer.

Even if each page was 300KB and everyone downloaded entirely, 25,000 page-views would only be 5GB of tranfer. each page has to be 500MB to use the amount of transfer that the site is using right now.

im afriad you might be wrong ,
300kb X 25,000 = 7500000kb /1000000 =7.5gb

when you say page , do you include all images size ?

Yes I include Images etc.

go to the site www.macwrite.com and click on an article and see the size. Pages are a MAX 100KB.

Just a thought but there seems to be a problem with the Code Red virus that upp'ed a lot of peoples bandwidth through the sheer volume of hits the sites were receiving...

Might be a bit of a long shot but I thought I'd throw it in for good measure.

I have decided (a few days ago) to wait for the end of September to get the September numbers, and then decide what to do.

Take a look at these two threads on a similar topic with Tera-Byte.

well if you're on their 20gb plan and you're using 9gb a month, i don't know why you are worrying :)
