My first Porsche. I found it on autotraders.com about a week ago and have been detailing her for the past week.
My 1987 Porsche 944S (http://www.webdocta.net/porsche/tn_DCP_3117.JPG)

bit small ... no where to put the shopping, kids, prams, timber etc and it doesn't look like it would be capable of pulling a 35' caravan, and or a decent sized yacht. Not to mention were do you sleep when your to drunk to drive home.

He keeps his drivers in the garage?

Mine threatened to go on strike if I didn't give them each their own private guesthouse. :D

Really nice car, I wish I could get a car like that. Australian market is against me I guess. Unless I have the money behind it that is. If you don't mind sharing, how much did that one set you back?

I think that I got a pretty good deal, the car is in excellent condition and presently needs nothing.
My cost was only $3,750 US. There also weren't very many of the "S" models made (made only between 1987-1988)

That's a pretty good deal. Around here they fetch between 5k-7k.

Looks damn nice. Whats the top speed?

Be careful, and watch for those idiot drivers out there, otherwise your car will end up like my truck and me did this morning.

Top Speed of 142MPH
944S Specifications (http://www.porsche.ru/porsches/944sspec.htm)
I don't plan on ever going near that speed. That will only get you in trouble. I love taking it on the backroads, it seems like it's "glued" to the road. :D

Docta! Welcome to the world of Porsches! 944's are a nice feeling car. Now, many cars have the 'cockpit feel' -however 924/944's have always had it. Nice short shifter too. Handling is great, near equal weight front and back (I believe it is 51% and 49%). Start saving now for a water pump replacement if it hasn't been replaced already :D

P.S. I've owned 914's, a 924, 944, and a 911SC (still have the 911SC).

The Water Pump and timing belt were just done along with a new exhaust system and a new set of tires! It doesn't need anything right now. I have the past 5 years of service records and everything is up to date.

Yeah. Chicken. Let's see some pics!

I have to agree, the 944 is a nice piece of machinery. I had teh opportunity to own one a few years back and am kicking myself in the butt for not doing it.

About 10 years ago I bought a 914/6 (has the 911 6 clinder motor) and that was a nice porsche to have. Lightweight and faster than hell...but too expensive to upkeep.

Beautiful car you've got there. Make sure you keep her well-oiled and polished and she'll take good care of you. :agree: :)

Man..

I was looking at that pic thinking "that looks like southern california"

after looking at your profile, it is southern california. There's a lot of WHT folks in Southern Cali that I've found, as well as a lot in the hosting industry at that.

Anyway, nice car. I still have my sights set on a new 350Z roadster, but that's nice :D

Yes I think you got a very good deal indeed, you don't even want to here the price of imports like that here.

You have a great car there, keep good care of it.

BTW nice car Chicken :)

Heh, yep. Redondo to be precise if anyone wonders.

Re: 350Z, that's actually the car I am thinking of replacing that one with (but the non-roadster as I wouldn't trust that at work). I have loved Porsches, and love this one, but it's getting middle old. I call "middle old" as not old enough to call an old car (such as 356's or 914's), and not new enough to be considered new. It's time.
