By the way, when you rent the server on behalf of the client, do you submit the client's information to Nocster ? If you do, it might be a good idea to update them but if you don't then they would not have the information of the initial customer to begin with then it makes no difference.

But when in doubt, contact nocster and find out. I am sure they have the answer to your question. It's their policy and their servers.

Actually, you have 2 options. Return the server to Nocster if you do not know when the next customer wants that server configuration so as to minimize the cost. The other method would be to ask for an OS restore which would effectively wipe everything off from the server and start it fresh. You never know what hidden directories contains what type of files. Assuming if your former client's server get infected by some trojan, you do not want to hand that over to the next customer with that undesirable materials still hanging in the machine.

you need to get server reinstalled... that's the best way to get everything secure!

If I had bought a server from you and found out that that the OS isn't a fresh install, I would ask for a refund and move to another host.

I don't think a lot of people wants to do business with a host who sells severs with used OS so you better ask an OS reinstall.

Well i will keep 2 options for the client to choose a OS reinstall or just keep no old os. Some clients wont care because it is like a testing server ect. BUT i will put the option. Also no one has cancel on us yet :D.

Nocster price for reinstall is $65 a hour and they say it takes from 2-3 hours!

Actually I care especially when you do not know what the previous owner does. There are two possible situation here.

First, the leaving client might have installed some programs, left some data and so on on the machine and might not have removed them. Some of which may be private and confidential information stored in some parts of the server. If you hand the machine as-is to the new customer, the old client information would be exposed to them.

Second, if the leaving client installed some undesirables on the machine because he knows he would probably not be using your service for long and those might get the current customer in trouble.

It is like a hotel room where everything is for a short lease. You wouldn't want to say rent a room and find the bed unkept and left over from the prior guest with wierd stains, last night's pizza from the prior guest still on the table and things left behind which kids are not supposed to know about.

I am pretty sure that room service will do a complete overhaul before the room is ready for you.

Same here.

Ah, ok i just want to make sure since i dont want to be short of information lol. Anyways i'll leave them 2 options i guess :/
