A year ago i used one of these free offers to register my domain. The good think is that I was wise enough to don't use namezero or such of scrap. The deal was the company pay the registration fees for me and I let's them send massive advertises emails. So they paid the domain WITH MY NAME as registran. Now that company stoped that offer and the time has almost come to renew my domain.

So I have a few questions so I can make the good choice.

1st when you buy a domain name from one of these low prices company do you have to pay for a DNS after or it's inclued in the price?
2nd If the DNS is inclued in the price can I change for another registra? (my domain is www.snowboardquebec.net so if you wanna use the whois to get more info..)
3rd if the DNS aren't inclued in the 9.99 that these cheap company ask to register the domain should I stay with eHost?

Youre listed as admin etc. so you should have no difficulty transferring it. If you have a host that has dns for your site then thats all you really need, along with the ability to modify this info for your domain name. Most good registrants let you do all of this online. Why not try http://www.dotster.com, http://www.godaddy.com or http://www.stargateinc.com , theyre the best ones I've seen so far.

If you transfer you can sometimes get another year added free. I personally like the look of stargate, I'm going to be transferring a couple there very soon myself.

i got one of those free domains too.. domainzero, right?
i'm just letting mine expire.. i thought there was a clause somewhere in their TOS that once yr free year was up you had to pay them the $25 for the next year.
but i'm not sure & don't really care anyway :stickout

I'd bet my chicken suit that this was domainzero. He can't transfer it, even though he is the admin of the domain. Kinda a sticky situation, and I'll not go into it other to say that the domain is 'locked' and cannot be transfered to another registrar.

You questions:
1) DNS is often *not* included as a service by other registrars. Domainzero went through enom and DNS, redirection, etc. services were included. You cannot transfer the domain at the moment, so this isn't much of a consideration.

2) You cannot transfer the domain at the moment, so this isn't much of a consideration.

3) I'm not sure who eHost is, but here is my suggestion:

Log into your domain and see if there is a feature called 'push domain' listed anywhere. If so, go to http://www.enom.com and create an account there. Go back to your domain login, and 'push' the domain from your account, to the login ID of the enom account you made.

If you do not see this push feature, then you might be stuck paying for the domain for at least another year.
