I am currently with an Estonian Host and it Just sucks... Majority of the time we get page cannot be displayed, site taks about 1 minute to load a page at times.. Just plain pathetic really..

Our site is totally based on PHP and a MYSQL DB.

we are using vbportal and vbulletin to run our forums and that is all that is to it..

Our main concern is speed, we need it to load fast. We also need that the servers be located in the UK. Not a UK host with US severs.

We we're actually considering ValueHost. Until a member from this site PM'ed me over at hostforum.co.uk and linked us here. Surprised at all the bad feedback... I wondered why their forums had moderated posts... and not one bad feedback..

Thanx to that member for bringing that to our attention.

Any feedback would be appreciated..

Thank you.

How much space and bandwidth do you actually use at this point in time, and how much are you willing to pay per month.

(If you're expecting the world for nothing, you are only setting yourself up for disapointment.)

At this point in time the site is taking about 100 megs of space... bandwith is a minimum but this is only for now as we are a private forum about to go live and public... From expereirce i knwo that we will need 500 megs of space and 10gb or so of BW to start to be safe... However the server needs to be located in the UK by a a UK company...

That's a tough request to find around here - UK-based company with UK servers. If you're concerned about speed, a high level US datacenter would be safe I would think. Perhaps you could ask for test download files and the like to test speeds.

Other than that, maybe someone else knows of a UK-based company with servers there, but personally I don't. The ones that I know all have servers located in the US.

Well, I assume US Servers are reliable enough... dont turn away from the US Market based on one hosting company that did less then a stellar job.

And to be more on topic with this.... I know of a few Gaming Hosts that have UK Servers maybe you can email and ask for simple shared hosting.

Maybe?

Hope that helps.

Just wondering here mate, but what sort of content are you talking about. If it's illegal here, it's gonna be illegal just about anywhere else. I know there are some exceptions of course, but still.
