Any suggestions of where i can rent a dedicated server in the US that includes Oracle as the database and supports ASP?
Thanks,
Heidi

Heidi,

This would be a fairly pricy proposition. Also, note that you don't want to run your web presence on the same server as you run your Oracle (or Informix or MS SQL). Both would run intolerably slow. So you would want to rent, at least, two servers.

I know that Vitalstream (www.vitalstream.com) offers some shared access to MS SQL server and they have/had a server leasing program. Tell them Karyn sent you if you decide to go a MS SQL server route.

If you seriously need access to an Oracle database server, you will have to go to the major hosting companies. Oracle is a very pricey package and it sounds like you want to get in with very little cost, so you'll wanted a shared service. I believe that XO offers this service with Oracle and leased box service and I'm sure that some of the other biggies do also. But considering the price, it's likely that you won't find what you are looking for at any of the smaller ISPs.

Important question is: are you talking _dedicated Oracle_ or a _shared Oracle_.

Database is often a critical performance part of any ASP app.

I would suggest considering putting Oracle on your own machine! Does oracle offer a singe-user version for on the same server?
