"affordable co-location" in Seattle has been nearly impossible for me to find.
What I'm looking for is ISP's who charge by rack space... $40 for 1u server + $3/GB type pricing. So far, I can't find anyone in this city who offers such pricing.
So far, cm2.com is the cheapest place I have found (thanks to this forum). They include 512K link and 1 server for $199/month.

Anyone used cm2.com? Any other providers in the area?
Thanks.

I to live in seattle and have looked for a colocation solution. I ended up going with a dedicated server somewhere else because if something goes wrong I don't want to have to pay to have it fixed, I want to be able to do it myself.
Aloha
I have a friend in Seattle area he is in Silverdale but he has colo space in Westin building he is a tier 2 provider with rack space in silverddale as well as Seattle
ya can PM me or email me to get his email
I do not do hosting he is a good friend and do not want to post his email here in public view
hope ya can understand that.
he is also very good at security issues etc... a great unix guy

revampnet - in our case, we needed a server with 1GB or 2GB of RAM for special application.
leased servers (dedicated and not co-located for the newbies) are often way higher if you want such configurations. Many ISP's actually charge you PER MONTH for additional RAM and stuff. Not all of them, but way too many :)
They also hit you for Windows 2000 licenses pretty hard. Often $100/month more.
Given that most ISP's charge at least $200 to $400/month EXTRA to charge for such a server... I can pay for shipping + server + Win2K and recoup the investment in under 12 months. ($200 * 12 = $2400 budget).
It is a risk we take that the ISP won't work out.... but within 10 months we are breaking even.
Other consideration: We are typically rebuilding our severs every 18 months anyway. Plus it is much easier to load/configure the server on-site than it is to do remotely. We have in labor at least another $500.... vs. leasing we have to have someone else install the operating system and it isn't going to be consistant from server to server
Bottom line: We can put in THREE servers in three other cities for what it would cost to put a SINGLE server in Seattle :)
I would love to have my server down the street. But reality is that the Westin building isn't that easy to get into unless you live and work downtown. Even when I used to do that when I worked in Bellevue it took me at least 60 minutes from time I left my office to get into my server room. With multiple servers in other cities... I can switch instantly (failover)... and then have a few DAYS to resolve the dead server.

well, my needs for a server aren't as high as yours.
It seems like you have found a workable solution for the seattle costs as have I.
Thank you for your insite.
