Say you have a forum, and you know people are looking at it but its not gathering users.
What are the most effective methods you know or have used to kick start a forum.
Thanks.

Try Sitepoint.com
I know they have a forum for it.

I don't know what forum software you use, but I had a site using Discus Pro. I had a *fairly* interesting customization, so I emailed them and they put it on their example list. That really got us going.

If your site has some loyal visitors, the forum will get busy. It
s only matter of time. If not, it'a gonna be a little hard.

If I wait for it to become popular I think I'll be waiting forever.
I have some genuine users and I informed them they need to help out by even discussing stuff with each other to keep it going, but they didnt even comprehend this, they just log in every so often, look around and then leave.
I think I am going to have to resort to a lot of fake users to hopefully start things off.
