And how can you make that list accurate.
If a host has 1000 customers and 5 customer give bad reviews I don't think that's fair.
Just followed links to hosting reviews....

There is a VERY irate customer at hostsearch reviews section, declaring hostsearch's reviews as a SCAM.
Any thoughts anyone?
AH-Tina 08-26-2001, 04:52 PM Yes, HostSearch will remove a bad review IF the hosting company can prove that the review is not true. For example, we have very high marks with HostSearch - but we had one of our former customers post an extremely damaging review. This was a customer that was terminated for spamming - more than once and after being warned. He then went out of his way to mail bomb the person who reported him for spamming. We cancelled his account - and refused to "turn it back on so that I don't lose any customers". Again, this customer was warned...and then maliciously sought revenge.
We wrote to HostSearch, explained the situation and showed proof. We then asked that they contact the poster and ask him to show proof as well. They did and he couldn't.
They promptly removed the bad review. Also, we had NEVER paid for advertisement with them...they had no reason to remove the post.
Overall, we have one of the best reputations for support. Occassionally, we will lose customers because they can't figure out how to update DNS - or haven't a clue as to what FTP is or how to connect to our server...and, some even are 110% SURE that it is our fault. Is it fair for those customers to post bad reviews? Something like "The worst host I've ever had! Avoid this one!!!!!"
I think HostSearch provides a good service - but they also understand that their service can be abused or mis-used, unintentionally. My experience has been that they use good judgement when removing a bad post. I have yet to hear of anyone saying a bad post was removed unjustly (with proof to back up their claim).
Anyone care to offer their experience???

Any thoughts anyone? Yeh. . . . They probably get quite a few "fake" reviews; but also a lot of legitimate ones as well.
How to sort them out? If you've been around the web awhile, there is likely specific wordings that would alert you.
But, if you're new and looking for your first host; better do more research than relying on someone else's supposed experience.
edude 08-27-2001, 12:12 AM Yes i think SWR is right, many hosts create 'fake' reviews for themselves, thier was a issue regarding this on WHT. Use the search button.
Let the victims decide, it’s a nice views from you all, but at lease give the choice to the victims. As I see it, its good even as a reference for the future to this forum that it has a thread for all links that we can add our view about hosts, next time some one will ask about this issue at least we refer them to this thread…YES:stickout
Asher S 08-27-2001, 09:19 AM heres a list of hosts 2 get u started, i have experience with all ;)

Jaiem 08-27-2001, 10:23 AM Let's be real here.
While the customer is always right, they aren't always correct. That is, sometimes a customer makes things more difficult than they have to be and as such the problems are thier own doing. Things like not fully reading the package features or the TOS, expecting the host to do development or testing work for them, being slow in repointing thier domain name, giving inaccurate billing info, etc.
As a general rule you almost always hear from irrate customers but there's really any forum to give praise to a host. And any positive reviews/posts are often taken with suspicion while complaints are taken as truth.
Chicken 08-27-2001, 07:26 PM Unfortunately this is because people don't post positive experiences that often in general. There's another board with two forums... Good Experiences and Bad Experiences. Well, the Good Exp. one was always nearly dead. People like to gripe.
Also, people who are satisfied with their host, do not (for the most part) go looking for new hosts, and forums and directories, etc. They stumble upon these places and often feel they've finally found somewhere where many are having similar problems.
We've also encountered an unfortunately high percentage of positive reviews which have turned out to be shameless self-promotion, so yes, positive reviews are met with suspicion, but as I said, over 75% turn out to be people with personality disorders raving about how 'they' are a good host.
Asher S 08-28-2001, 12:51 AM lol chicken u think thats an issue on WHT. U shud check out hostsearch.com, you wont believe the amount of self-promotion going one, and all from one IP. Sometimes it a diffy ip but style of typing sorta gives the cheater away.
