I have a question for you guys. I have Windows 2000 and live in MD. I'm looking for a reliable DSL or Cable provider. I had Verizon DSL services and it SUCKED. I never went three days straight with service and for the last three weeks b4 cancelling I didn't have service and they kept saying "we're working on your problem". Anyway, now I'm back to 56K and could use some reliable high-speed internet providers.

Earthlink is pretty good for what I heard. What type of service did you have with Verizons. You can also check with direct tv broadband. They offer dsl and they are also telocity. $49.99 with static IP for 1.5/128 speed.

Terrible, that's what kind of service I had with Verizon. Whatever it was, it was there $39.00 plan. They didn't offer me anything else saying that it would better the quality of service. I decided to go with Earthlink, after reading a ton of reviews on dslreport.com. Thanks for the input.

My local provider has sold its customers to Earthlink, although I haven't been switched yet, but I know some who have been switched and they're very pleased so far.

I also know others who are current Telocity customers and they're quite happy. One of them uses them for both residential and business.

Well, I'm going to put Earthlink to the test. So far the customer service far surpassed Verizon's. They said I should be up and running in 7-10 days. So we'll see.

Hi,
Earthlink (actually Sprint FastConnect) recently started offering DSL in my local area. I received a call from the "Earthlink" representative on a Monday afternoon. After going through all the details, I signed up for $49.99 a month (512K) and I was promised a hookup on the following Monday.
2 days later (Wednesday), I received a package containing my modem, the required DSL filters for my phone jacks, and complete instructions on setting up my system. They included everything I needed.
On Monday afternoon, I was sitting at the computer and saw the "DSL" light on the modem go from flashing orange to solid green, indicating that the line had just been hooked up. I immediately disconnected from my 56k dialup, and started up the DSL dialer (included on the CD Earthlink gives you) and was surfing at 480K :)
Overall, it was a pleasure signing up for the service. It's not often that a company delivers exactly as promised. They delivered on all counts.
2 thumbs up!
