Its been a while since I brought my last server for colocation. Anyone got any suggestion here?? I am looking to buy low cost and reliable P4 servers. I tried to search the forum. But most of the posts come up are related to dedicated server.

Here is a quick list of who we use and what we recommend.

1. http://Rackmountsetc.com - So far out of the few we have had the best experience with this company. Fast turn around, reliable hardware and fast friendly responces. We'll definately be going back for more!

2. http://InterproMicro.com - Very nice prices, excellent hardware but we've had a few problems which I won't get into here that ended up costing us a lot of wasted time ( time = money ). Most of the problems I believe stemed from a communications problems, which I believe has been ironed out. But overall they are still leaders IMHO.

3. http://AcmeMicro.com - They can build servers, but for the love of god, do NOT get them to install the OS for you. Even if you give them a detailed explanation as to what you want.. expect something else. We've had very few problems with the servers and they are very good when it comes to return repairs.

I've also heard good things about http://www.colomachine.com but we haven't tried them out yet.

If price is a consideration, there's always:

I'd suggest http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewSellersOtherItems&include=0&userid=apaqdigital

We have a ton of them for our own use and have refered them to a lot of customers. They do a great job with great support. Don't let the whole ebay thing sacre you. These guys use first rate components and do a great job putting them together.

I am also in Atlanta and have looked at Apaq Digital several times. Their prices seem a bit higher than rackmountsetc. Do you know if they do price matching :D

I got Apaq to quote a machine I just bought from RME and it was $20 higher, which included a Supermicro case and rails. Pretty close. In fact, close enough not to matter if it weren't for that pesky local sales tax, which is another 7% - so all told approximately $50 more once you factor in shipping (free shipping from Apaq for local customers).

I'll probably buy a few just to check out the quality of his gear. Can't hurt to have a local hardware vendor.

Chong, who owns Apaq, is a really a top quality server tech. Also, he doesn't use any cheap components.

He's great to work with. We even send him the IP/Gatewa/Netmask info and he put's it in while he set's up each machine for the customer. Saves us a little time, or in case of client's servers, we know we are getting a machine that is configured right.

We've had machines from him that have been running steady for years now. Just picked up another one to use for a clients firewall.

He has also been good about volume discounts.

Hey Haze.

Any idea how long have they been around? Their site seems to be incomplete?? How do you normally contact them??

Btw, thanks for all the feedback.

You can contact them via email at sales@rackmountsetc.com
They have had issues getting their site up for some time now, but that has no impact on the quality or price of their servers.
