Well I know this question is probably not a good one for this board, but I really have no where else to ask it. Can anyone reccomend me a really good UBB script - that is either free or incredibly cheap? (like less than 30 bucks) Thanks in advance.

phpBB is great and is free. It runs on php+mysql as opposed to Ultimate Bulletin Board's Perl method.

A lot of hosts do not allow Yabb, just watch out.

UBB is Ultimate Bulletin Board. There is only one. - But obviously you were referring to "Bulletin Board".

For your budget, as someone mentioned, PHP Board would be a good idea.

Or: Ultra Board (http://www.ultraboard.net)

My host banned its use at the end of last month. Some people I have seen refer to it as the worst of the lot for draining server power. Shame, its quite good feature wise. Mabye one day theyll get round to finishing the php rewrite they've been talking about for ages.

(There seems to be no mention of php version on their page anymore)

yes i must agree. YaBB kicks all ass when it comes down to features. But when it comes to its bench marks... It just sucks... I would go with a BB writen in PHP, doesnt use huge images, and uses database software instead of just writing mass amounts of folders and files.

Thanks for the heads up - on yabb.

I had one yabb board set up in a low traffic support section so I didnt really notice any of the issues you would see on something getting alot of traffic. Makes sence though if it just written in perl.
I was just going to install the latest version on another site too, guess I need to look for something speedier, thanks again for saving me some time...

Damn I am gonna miss that thing :)
