So I am pretty new to all this. I mean, getting a host started. I know the basics, but not all of the vital aspects. Could you guys give me all the steps I would need to get started? What licences I need, Good Dedicated servers, How much it would be monthly/to get started. This would mean a bundle. Thanks alot everyone :)

I would start out as a reseller of a reputable company. That way you dont have high start up costs with buying software licences and the hastle of managing your server.

Once you start to get a client base you could consider moving to a dedicated server.

There must be loads more advice to come this way... but I would do a search around the forum as this has been covered a number of times before.

Good luck!!!

Do you think it would be a hassel for my users to do that? Also, can I still have my own name server with a re-sellers. (I never liked the fact of using someone elses...)

You would be able to use your own nameservers.

It will be pretty much the same environment for your customers with being on a reseller account instead of a ded server.

it is a great starting point and really allows for you to grow properly and learn along the way.

To make a name server do I just add it in my domian CP and put the IP of the server in? If thats it, its pretty simple :)

Thanks again.

No. It's way more complicated than that. If you have no clue about the basics go with a reseller and let them do the job for them.

A basic of running with a reseller is to let your clients know you are a reseller. Don't **** with your own nameservers just to hide that fact. They'd find anyway if they wanted and will leave if that bothers them and they didn't know from the start.

Of course if you are reselling for a higher rate and don't even offer anything more than the base company you are on the wrong track. Resellers are for selling more than the original company.

Hope this helps :)
