View Full Version : UK Mobile Network!
Darktwist 10-03-2003, 06:22 AM At the moment I have “pay as you go” on UK Vodafone network. Now I am considering getting a contract (monthly payment).
dialaphone.co.uk seem to be good, do you know any more popular site? I am looking for great offer – I can only spend around £10-15 monthly including free camera mobile :)
I have decided to use same network so that my mobile number can stay the same.
[Edit]
Also which camera mobile phone do you recommended and why? nokia, sharp,Samsung, etc?
Joseph_M 10-03-2003, 07:01 AM You'll have to pay for that camera mobile then ;) Because people generally don't give them out for such low-cost contracts because they simply won't make their money back in a year.
Try the carphone warehouse if you want a reasonable deal.
MattF 10-03-2003, 07:06 AM I've had a very negative experience with Singlepoint alias phones4u and dialaphone (do a search on google groups for all three companies).
I'd recommend you go direct. Depending on what you use. Orange anytime plans are good at the moment and include free phone, free billing and upto 500 free texts. Also check out o2.co.uk online tariffs.
Darktwist 10-03-2003, 07:15 AM I have Vodafone mobile number - is it possible to use same number to transfer/puch on to different network somehow?
MattF 10-03-2003, 07:20 AM Yes, due to oftel fair competition rules. :)
Request a PAC code from Vodaphone, they will need to verify your credentials so you may need to write in (send recorded delivery) or ring up and confirm your name, address and any account pin etc...
Then give it to your new service provider and tell them to switch the number.
BenDoherty 10-03-2003, 08:08 AM Singlepoint were bought out by Vodaphone a couple of weeks back. I have an O2 contract with them, which they are having to honour, and its brilliant and i cant say i have a complaint about them.
To be honest you wont find much of a deal for that price, but 02 have some nice deals txt and picture message wise.
Warm Regards,
Ben
Darktwist 10-03-2003, 08:22 AM I heard 02 is slow/lagged when sending a txt message to different network.
dial a phone are a good company
their support staff are excellent!!1
id recommend them!!
MattF 10-03-2003, 10:35 AM I've not noticed any major problems with O2 sms, occassionally messages come through a few hours late, but I've notice similar random and infrequent behaviour on other networks too.
Darktwist 10-03-2003, 11:07 AM MattF:
You from Liverpool? So that mean you in to Liverpool football team?! :D
I'm from Bolton which is not too far to Liverpool...
aah-jim 10-03-2003, 11:10 AM Id recommend just going into a Link shop or something and getting a Sony Ericsson T610,
Think you can get them for about £30 on a cheap contract there :)
richy 10-03-2003, 01:09 PM Carohnewarehouse have always done me great,
You have your pic of the networks as you can shift your number between any of them.
Tmobile I have two contracts with just about to run them both out (they had a deal last xmas for 12 months free rental free phone and 750 free minutes plus 50 texts free so why the hell not lol), their service has been great. Coverage is amazing theyre justa little expensive.
3 are terrible beyond belief. They are cheap but Ive had endless problems with them since I got my videophone from them. Their call centre is in india and with all the will int he world they havent a clue and can barely speak english. I have had to phone up 3 times due to their inability to take something as simple as a bank number correctly, also apparently Michael begins with an N :( (I was spelling out my name and said M for Michael and it got typed as N), but they have a scottish bloke there called gavin so ask for him. Problem is unless you want PAYG you wont get a contract under 25 a month.
Vodaphone Ive been with since 96\97 and theyve always been fine. Just again a little expensive compared to 3 or orange or o2.
Orange have a great service but poor customer services, their computer rules their life and if it says you cant do something then god forbid the operator has to employ some thought and actually overide it or get their boss. They do some great tarrifs though.
O2 are probably your best bet.
What networks will you be calling most?
Also your budget is a little low for a decent phone, youll need to spend 25 a month to get anything half decent although you probably can manage to get an older t68i with camera if you find somewhere with them in stock. Ive got one and its a nice little phone but the battery tends to die after 8 months.
Darktwist 10-03-2003, 01:27 PM It will be good if you use paragraphs richy so it will be easy to read :)
richy 10-03-2003, 01:55 PM Thats what those carriage returns are matey. If it was all one long sentence there wouldnt be half lines now would there?
