Hi all,

Does any body has any experiences on adding more RAM for Dell PowerApp Web 120?

The RAM price from Dell is too high. I want to buy some RAM by myself. But my datacenter guy told me one of his clients took three separate trips to three different vendors before getting the right memory card to work properly on his server.

I would like to know am I necessary to buy RAM from Dell? Is there any brand which is cheaper and work in PowerApp Web 120?

I suggest: http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.asp?model=PowerApp.web+120&x=6&y=18

Dell Servers need ECC Registered. The regualr RAM you get at the computer stores will not work. It is a little more expensive, but not much more.

Thanks Chicken!!!!

The price at crucial.com is much cheaper. You know, it costs $500 something in Dell! What the fu**k!

Also thank you WeinBar Jack. Yes, ECC Registered. IBM also has ECC Registered RAM. May be I need to compare the price for different companies.

I added ram to a powerapp.web. At first, I just opened it up and dropped a new 256 mb stick in. But it wouldn't boot. I had to pull the original memory out and add 2 identical sticks.

What kind of RAM it's? Is it ECC Registered or just normal SDRAM?

Every recent Dell I've come across, especially the 350-based PowerApps, use ECC Registered SDRAM. It's usually Micron PC133 RAM, so you can't go wrong ordering from Crucial.

Yeah, at least cheap enough for me. I will mention that I ordered some recently (not for a DELL, about 2-3 weeks ago) and the FREE 2-day shipping took about 5 days to get here. I don't think the order was processed for 2-3 days. They mentioned there might be delays on the site at the time of the order. Not sure if this is still the case. Just F.Y.I.

Yes, Dell uses Micron (Crucial) memory. Some of our customers have had major problems using other memory (Viking, etc) with the Micron.

We use http://crucial.com and so far they are the best. Price wise :) and have had no problems with them on Gateways and Dell power Apps.
