View Full Version : GoDaddy and Verio.com
ubrello 10-02-2003, 02:12 PM | I can't believe how cheap it is to register your domain on godaddy.com. I register my domain on verio.com for 3yrs for $51.00!! Do you guys like godaddy.com? thanks |
dmaven 10-02-2003, 02:15 PM There are MUCH cheaper services than godaddy. Rackshack.net is only 5.00 + tax |
eSology 10-02-2003, 02:16 PM | A few weeks ago I moved almost all of my domain names to Godaddy from Stargate. This morning I just renewed one for 4 more years at godaddy -- $33! That will do for me. |
ubrello 10-02-2003, 02:16 PM from what verio toll me they are one of the best... who knows. So to register my domain lonfer I need to transfer my domain domain right? thank u!! |

I've been looking at rackshack/ev1 and my biggest complaint is no URL forwarding/masking.
Godaddy even does e-mail forwarding with your domain name. |

When you transfer it will include a one year renewal. Did that answer your question? |

will they charge me to transfer it? I wonder if verio will give me a hard time trasfering my domain. |
eSology 10-02-2003, 02:21 PM Your going to need to wait for 60 days until you can transfer that domain from verio. |

4solutions 10-02-2003, 02:42 PM You might want to do a search here on WebHostingTalk for the keywords godaddy + lost ... a few months ago, GoDaddy had some serious software issues which caused some people's domain names to disappear out of their account and reappear in stranger's accounts. It was a real mess and many members here (including me) are in the process of moving their domain names away from GoDaddy to more stable registrars. GoDaddy is good, but they have experienced amazing growth over the past several years which has caused problems with the stability of their software system and their support.
You might want to checkout www.namecheap.com (I have NO economic ties with them). They are an enom reseller and offer lots of bells and whistles with a great customer interface for jus $8.88. Rackshack ( now known as www.ev1servers.com ) is also a great deal at $5.41 if you just need a plain vanilla domain name with no domain or email forwarding.
Just my two cents... |

Don't get scared. :) I think GoDaddy finally sorted the whole thing out, but many people spent a lot of time on the phone with their support. All good companies can have growing pains.
Sorry, I can only recommend hosts that I have used... and I have never found one worth recommending. Sad, but true. :( |

Look at the bright side. You've found what I believe is one of the greatest overall forums for webmasters. There is a lot of knowledge to be found here and a lot of intelligent webmasters, designers and webhosts willing to share their knowledge for free.
You might also checkout www.sitepointforums.com if you can't get your question answered here.
If you need hosting, then I would suggest you post a request in the Advertising Forum here: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=32 and also look look through the offers here: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=4
Don't be afraid (or embarrassed) to say that you're a newbie and might need some extra hand holding. We all had to learn to walk before we could run... no embarrassment there.
Best of Luck to you! |

cscertified 10-02-2003, 09:04 PM Go daddy has phone support, good deals, walks you through everything, and they care! For a long time i registered with random companies, but when it was time to switch hosting companies, trying to get ahold of them or get help was CRAZY!!!
I wont use anyone but godaddy, the extra few bucks is good for me. Better that $30 a year and register.com |
