hola people,

im sorta back for a while - trying to get used to college and all :)

anyways, im looking into buying a digital camera and wanted to know if anyone has any experience with digital cameras and which one is good buy...

my budget is simply $300-400 but i would prefer if it was closer to $300 :)

i think i want an 2.1 or 2.x megapixel digicamera - the 3.x's price range jumps up over my budget.

i've been recommended two digital cameras for my needs...

Canon Powershot S10 - looks very sleek, all metal frame

Olympus D-510 - looks cool too, i think it said it was plastic frame but didn't feel cheap or anything like that.

i've read the reviews of both cameras, and well... both have good reviews but both have about the same bad reviews... but overall, they were both 4.5/5.0 or something like that...

if someone had any experiences with these two digital cameras in particular then please give me your opinion! :)

Just (six weeks ago) got a Nikon Coolpix 800, which I'm in love with. It was on offer at 40% off so paid approximately 6000AS (quickly looks at Yahoo currency converter - 397$) as I think they're bringing out a new range. Look around for offers on it - and if you're in USA it will be cheaper anyway.

Check out this place:

to see some more reviews (as far as I remember, he has links to other reviews as well - and, no, it's nothing to do with me!)

Specs: 2.1 million
x2 optical zoom x 2 digital zoom
Automatic/manual/best shot mode/multishot/macro closeup
Flash (not very good)
Photoshop LE bundled in (along with a few other programmes)

I was looking at Olympus as well, but iffy test results on that and this offer turned me around.

Good luck in yr search.

I have the Canon Powershot S10 and owned a Olympus D220L (older 640x480 max res. camera). Now it might just be my imagination, but it seems to me that the older, lower res. camera overall took better pictures in terms of color, ziggy lines, etc.

The Canon is great, small, very cool, works well, but I was holding a similar res. Olympus (not the one you mentioned), and I had a hard time picking which one.

Due to the size, the Canon also has a tiny flash which isn't all that powerful. Closer the better at night, probably 10 feet-ish or less, but it makes it difficult to take a group of 5-7 people. The size however is also the best thing about it as it will fit easily in your pocket (slightly bigger than a pack of smokes).

I've also been looking at digital cams lately. Anyone have any experience with the Sony Cybershot DSC-P30? The resolution could be better, but I'm not really looking to print very many pictures.
