View Full Version : Fraud?
Gerbil 09-30-2003, 11:04 PM Hi
I am in need of a good credit card processor for my hosting company..
Which one is best to use when it comes to fraud? I dont wanna end up paying out of my own pocket for credit card fraud..
I am pondering running Clientexec with Internet Secure.. Any comments or experience with any of them?
I would greatly apriciate someone who have had a good experience to reply and tell me how they did it, who they used and pro's/con's.
Thanks

verify your order. Cross check the name on the credit card and the name on the order form. Call them on the phone to verify. If you do that, you will have 98% Fraud free.
Gerbil 09-30-2003, 11:33 PM How can that be 98% fraud free?
If someone have the credit card info, fill it in and i call them up, they just have to read the same name they filled in out loud to me, no?

Well, for starters, you now have a validated home phone number, or contact number for this person, so if the transaction does turn out to be fake, you call his local police station and report him, they'll be round to visit him in no time, especially as your CC processor will confirm the fraud occurence, and provide his IP.
Edit: Remember, credit card fraud in any sense is a highly punishable offence, so, if the person is traceable, you then have the means to have him punished.
HA-Kevin 10-01-2003, 12:08 AM I didn't have experience with Internet Secure, but actually I use Paysystems. And what I can say is fabulous third party processor. They prevent me from several frauds since my business started and I'm very confident at them. You can do a little search on WHT to see related informations about Paysystems.

Reality Hosting 10-01-2003, 12:15 AM I would suggest PSI-Gate, I just switched from Internet Secure to PSI-Gate and while I have no complaints about the service Internet Secure provides (Top notch all the way) They do a few things that are stupid and make you look unprofessional.
1. They put their name after your company name on the credit card statments of your custoemrs
2. They forward your client to their website for credit data collection.
PSI-gate is similarly priced and eliminates annoying features like that.
Also, if you go with ModernBill, they have a no setup fee PSI-gate account you can get. (You have to ask support about it , as it's not on their website yet.)
Hope this helps. :D
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
Gerbil 10-01-2003, 01:19 AM Hmm.. True, i believe credit card fraud is much worse here in North America so the punishment should be harder and authoritiez more eager to hunt them down.
I read that Reality Hosting.. Having my company AND Internet Secure's namn on the bill must look unproffesional and be confusing for customers.

when you use 3rd party cc processing company such as 2checkout to process to order for you, the name, address and phone will have to match with the info of the card holder. That how you check it.

How would you know its a home number ? It could be a prepaid phone as far as that goes, tracing the transaction back to a person doing fraud by IP is also sometimes not doable, anyone can go pickup a PRE-PAID INTERNET cd packet at any food store and get online without any details about them, its as simple as installing the application and getting online, they dont even ask you for personal information.
Reality Hosting 10-01-2003, 08:15 AM Silly me, I totally forget to address the fraud issue! In about a year and a half of business, I've had not one chargeback. Be naturally suspicious of all orders. Check and double check for fraud. Do a traceroute on the IP address, if it's in a country other than where the credit card is located...refund imediately and cancel the order.
If you have ANY doubts about the order, call the phone number and verify the order. (You can make it a "welcome to our company" sort of call) If you can't get a hold of the card owner via the phone number....then refund and cancel the order imediately!
Hope this helps!
