I am starting to get into hosting, and already have a reseller account, and was wondering is this the good way to go? To start off with a reseller and work my way up as revenue generates? I have gotten several requests but some seem in dismay because its "just reselling" as they say.

anybody have any vital tips or suggestions to help me out when starting out?

like things NOT to do, and things to look out for? it would be much appreciated

It's a great way to start by working your way up the ladder.

Basically, honesty is the best policy. Don't lie about anything, be up-front and truthful when talking to potential clients. Don't offer 100s of GBs of Transfer or space for unreal prices. Keeping a steady and strong service will always pay off. Be personal but professional with your customers. Don't be afraid to act like more of a friend to them, they really enjoy that. ;)

Might try the local market as well. Often, there are many companies that would love to have a website, yet they have know clue and think it will cost an arm and a leg. (This is where you can raise your prices just a little ;) )

Just be prepared to work. Don't come into hosting expecting to get rich quick, because truth be told you won't.

Thanks a bunch :) I really appreciate the feedback, and I agree with all of it.

The plans im thinking of offering dont go over 4 gb space and 40 gb bandwidth, but still is that too much to offer? People see around that much and automatically assume they can upload whatever they want which is NOT the case..

And no i'm not in a get rich quick scheme :P.. I just enjoy working to help people work towards their goal of owning a successful website and broadening my knowledge.

Thanks again! :)

I don't think that's too much to offer at all. There are all sorts of niches for a host to offer. Just make sure that your TOS cover well any issues with content that may arise.

Other than that, sure looks as if you're in it for all the right reasons. Just stay honest and work hard and you'll grow in time. :)

Thanks again :)

Ill be sure to have a well written TOS to cover any and all of it (if need be, i'll even venture back to my old school to talk to my old English and Applied Communications teachers :P)

Take Care! :) And thanks for not bashin a newbie :P

I think being original and trying to offer something extra which would make a difference would be vital for you to get started and get selected from the pack.

Put in the extra effort and people will notice you for it.
