you might wanna check at a place like elance.com for those things. there is no BEST for everything. you gotta look around and see what appeals to you.

Although I understand your question... You will only get replies from people that used a particular service, or they THINK a company is good, without ever using them. So "The best" will cover people's personal experiences, or their opinions of companies they never used.

In short "the best" is all a matter of opinion, because what may be "the best" for one person, may not be "the best" for another.

I guess we could argue that the best or one of the best icon designers is Susan Kare:

Mark, from Avidnewmedia.com is a great logo designer. He has designed the logo for turnkeychoice.com and gameplug.net, which are not only attractive, but exactly what we needed and made for print.

For web site design I have worked with the following companies;
Skize Media (skize.com), designed turnkeychoice.com
1on1design (1on1design.co.uk), designed centae.com
Phision (phision.com), designed gameplug.net
Intervolt (intervolt.net), designed serverenterprise.net

Very great companies and people to work with; I highly recommend them all.

Lonny,

As far as banners we've used Senthu from bannersmall.com (http://www.bannersmall.com) for a variety of banners and he has been more than helpful with changes, additions and updates.

I've purchased about 7 banners from them, and they do a wonderful job. I'll be going back.

They've also moved into adult banners as well. I'm don't need any of those, you might, but I see (cough) hear they are pretty good :) adult.bannersmall.com (http://adult.bannersmall.com)

Once again, my vote is for Senthu from bannersmall.com

This guy has done about 20+ banners for myself and clients and they've all been delivered within the time period and at amazing quality!

For Logo's, I used Sweet Logo's. www.sweetlogos.com Their prices are excellent and they were very easy to work with. Our logo is even in their portfolio.

I used a logo design from an elance-type service. The graphic quality is good, but I never use the logo because that logo is impossible to print, not to mension fax... it didn't add anything to my business. I ended up using Word to creat my own simple logo, and I am much more happy with it then the one designed by graphic designers.

My $0.02 is:

1) Use simple color. One color is the best. Why? because you will need your logo to show in a lot of Black & White cases, for example, fax, invoice, direct mail, etc.

2) Use simple font. For example, the Microsoft logo is so simple that I believe everybody in MS can create their logo in 2 seconds as long as they have a Word processor.

A couple of examples, IBM, ATT, Microsoft logos are all one color, simple fonts.

3) A logo design must fit into the theme of webpage. So you might get tied up to a webpage design company... Remember that webdesign should be updated every couple of years...
