omg, do you think this means they can steal the domain names?

To an extent, yes. If they only have access to the WHOIS servers, no. If they have access to the registry.......they can do, well, anything they want.

No, they didn't "hack" the WHOIS servers. I'm not quite sure of the details but if you have a subdomain with AOL.com in it, and register it somehow (or something), it will show up the WHOIS search for aol.com.

Haha, that WHOIS list is hilarious despite its, err... depressing implications, blah blah.
that is not hacking the registry...all those are just name server names...like ns.somedomain.com, but they put microsoft.com or something into the host name to make a point, so for example, instead of making ns.mydomain.com they made microsoft.com.sucks.compared.to.mydomain.com and registered that as their name server...anyone with a domain can do the same.

This is nothing new. I flipped when I first noticed it a while ago until I realized what was actually going on. They probably should do something about it though...

People have been doing this since WHOIS first started.
Deep breath people...

Come on, nobody should do anything about it. Been going on for years, and it does no harm to anyone (except for a brief moment of embarassment from time to time for those who suddenly "discover" that domain name system's been hacked :) ). It's just a prank!
It wouldn't be that easy to prevent anyway, without severely reducing the functionality of whois.
