I've noticed that there are a lot of gamers here, so I figured I'd take a poll. CounterStrike 1.6 recently came out, and my friends and I upgraded, but kept 1.5 behind because we'd heard bad things about 1.6.
We now host 1.5 games on each others' boxes because few of us really like it. The text and menus looks _HORRIBLE_ on my box, and it's slower. It comes with some irritating instant messenger that sits in my system tray and chimes, driving me nuts. It just crashes for one of my friends; he can't even play the thing. (The riot shield is apparently being disabled on a lot of public servers since so many people hate it.)
Anyway, I'm wondering what people think of it here. Are we the only ones who hate it?

I kinda like it though. the interface looks better then the "old" version of the game.
Guess we all have to get comfortable with it yet (including Valve :))

When I register with steam it tells me that someone has allready registered with my cd key. I bought half life,, its not pirated :(

I personally liked Beta 3.x best, when m4 had scope and you could single shot snipe w mp5.
Ever since 1.0 the game has gone downhill and 1.6 is further proof of that.
The riot shield bug has been fixed, but it still has no place in this game and totally throws the balance off, I just hope CAL disallows it!!!! (If not I think we will start to see the end of CS. )
Back to original question, 1.6 stinks but not much we can do about it besides stop playing, as they are taking WON and all 1.5 or under serves will no longer work.

That's when I started playing. The colt still had the zoom, and life was good. Didn't have too many hacks out I believe, came later on in the betas...remember Lambert? lol
Anyways, I have not personally played 1.6 myself for fear of yet another change to something that didn't need changing. My partner of my gaming network installed a 1.6 on a seperate dedicated box with adminmod, and has happily reported you can disable the damn shields! :)
