I don't usually post here anymore. However, I have been following the threads about Pegasus, because I too signed up for the $129 server deal. I must say that when they emailed me informing me of the special offer I sent them my money straight away. Here is why...
I have been reading these forums on and off for about a year, knowing that someday I would want a dedicated server of my own. I started doing this because in my mind, I could not form a good impression of the reputation and quality of hosts in the industry in any less a time span than say six months. One thing I have learnt from reading these forums is that *every* host and every NOC will have its problems and hiccups from time to time - that is almost certain! That is life. Its reliability I'm looking for and a well managed business that can handle its growth. Pegasus are one of several hosts who are often discussed here that were on my short list.
Well, I just got my server. Everything is set up exactly as I had specified. At this point I am most cerainly happy. I hope that the service and support will continue to keep me that way ;-)
I do think that Pegasus made the mistake of not forecasting that it would take considerably longer than a few days to procure and set up what appeared to be a real spike in sales for them. I'm sure in hindsight they would have wanted to forecast the time it has taken better and not leave people with the false expectation that their server was going to be up in a matter of days. I'm sure that Jason and his staff are smart enough to have learnt from this too. However, by using reason rather than hysteria, I could see that it was taking them longer to get things done, but had the confidence, based on a long time of observation, that all would be well, and decided to be a little patient.
I can only say that in business, the annoyance and frustration of delays is something that any business person has to cope with and manage. Its part of business life. I just sense that some of the posts that have been made here about Pegasus lately have been more venting of frustration than a clear assessment of the merits of Pegasus and the quality of their service. In any case, now that I have my server up, I will be able to judge them for myself. Feel free to email me in a few months and I will be happy to give you a frank, honest and rational opinion of how I have found the service.
Cheers :)
