Hello Sean,

How many servers do you currently host in your NOC?

Couldn't tell how many servers, but I counted 71 trademarks on that page :D

Last count was 200+ servers a couple weeks back.
We have a large client with 50+ servers moving in within the next 1-2 weeks as well.
The facility was opened May 1st 2001...less than 4 months ago.

Odd. I only counted 50 ™ :D

Press clt+f, and paste ™, then keep clicking 'find next'.

Thanks Sean.

You are growing fast, plus considering those are dedicated servers. :)

Good luck with your NOC.

We do actually have a cot in there..because, as you can imagine, we spend many nights working late building machines...

That is about 3000sq ft we occupate right now.
We are in the middle of purchasing the entire building, approx 10,000 sq ft, and moving our sales/support office in to the building. This will allow us to condense our staff, and increase our phone support call completion ratio to levels we find acceptable.

I see a lot of post about BurstNet (mostly by the same people) who appear to be unhappy with them. I was very unhappy with my host until I switched to BurstNet.

I have no complaints about BurstNet at all; their service has always been quick. I requested a reboot, done in 5 minutes on a Saturday. I need more IP’s done in 30 minutes.

I just read a post stating Burst was down on “08-22-2001 Just came back up. So 1 1/2 hour downtime.”

My server was down too, but for 29 minutes not 90 minutes. I think many people are not telling the whole truth. See Below! The outage from 8/18 was my work on the server.

I don’t think any host could please some of these people!

Just my 2 ½ cents!
BOB

There have always been mixed feelings for burst.net.

But I am happy with there Linux. Support is brilliant.

Thank you,

Bob, I'm happy for you that things are going well and I hope they stay that way. By your 90 minute comment I guess you were referring to my post about being down 1 1/2 hours? What can I say. I was pulling an all nighter and couldn't save my files. I kept checking back and got no response from my server or burst.net that whole time. I don't know where your stats are from or how reliable they are but I didn't use a machine, I was physically awake trying to reach my server and have no reason to lie. I wish to be happy w/ Burst as well and am hopeful for a turnaround.

Sean thanks for the pictures. I'm happy to hear that you folks are expanding and working on improving things. I'll be happy to be more friendly Sean and don't even expect to post much here anymore but would really appreciate if you would find it in your heart to consider my request about offering a way to open an emergency ticket which would page someone in case no one is around and the network is down. I really don't like being a pain but I get very edgy when my server's down. I can't help it, I have a bad temper...but let's change the tone, I will start with the first gesture. I offer a Truce. (but please consider my request. Thanks!)

<< emergency ticket which would page someone in case no one is around and the network is down. >>

We are in the middle of working on our emergency contact methods.
As mentioned earlier, we are moving staff from Bloomsburg to Scranton currently.
Sometime next week we expect to have the entire phone system replaced, and housed in Scranton. Almost all our admins will be in Scranton by Monday...including two new ones...one from Levitown PA (near Philly) and another currently driving cross country from Silicon Valley (California) as we speak. We are hiring more staff as fast as we can find qualified personel...mostly admins. We may not be perfect, and no host is, but most have to agree that considering our huge growth in the past 3-4 months, we are doing a pretty good job keeping up with it. Not only are we not falling behind in support issues, but we are actually improving with such. We have seen it many times in the past where a hosting company grows too fast and cannot keep up with it. We ourselves made that exact mistake 2-3 years ago. We learned from that and are prepared this time to endure the growth.

We too are very satisfied with Burst.
Only one thing at the moment that bothers us is the promise of the remote reboot service. let's hope it will be ready soon now.
