I have been trying to submit a URL to the www.dmoz.org search engine for several days now. When I click the "Submit" button, it either loads forever or times out with an error message. Has anyone else been able to successfully submit a URL there recently?
Thanks.

I had the same problem a few days ago. I haven't tried again, though.

DMOZ has been nearly dead for close to a year now. I've submitted sites, but nothing ever gets listed. Tried again some months back and couldn't even get the submission form to work.
Sad really.

apparently server migration issues.
has been doing this for about 2 weeks or so, basically some sites do get sent through(you have to keep refreshing to hope you get through)
they know about, www.resource-zone.com is a good resource for finding things out about the ODP.
I wouldnt expect there parent company NetScape/AOL to give a rats anyway, they really do not know what a great resource DMOZ is and should actually pay people to constantly take care of it and nuture it!

hrm. Depends on what category you submit to. Sites submitted to my categories get added regularly. :)

I been trying for a month now and always get and error message a few minutes after I hit the submit button.
Today when I went to "suggest URL" I got a new message:
Submission Outage
The ODP 'add url' form is temporarily disabled while we run statistics to track down some performance issues. It should be back on Wednesday, October 1, at 2pm PDT.
maybe they are up to some changes...

DMOZ is a human-edited directory. Each catagory is "edited" by a volunteer moderator. Some of the catagories have really crappy editors that dont give a damn about thier catagory.
For a while, DMOZ refused to list all of my sites because on of the editors was personally opposed to the content of one of my sites. I complained to the DMOZ staff, citing where the mod had violated thier agreement, and the directory removed the moderator from the catagory.
And to whoever said DMOZ has been dead for a year is incorrect. Getting listed on DMOZ is one of the keys to being highly ranked. Google ranks DMOZ sites higher and more throughly than non-DMOZ sites. DMOZ also powers a large number of smaller, less well known search engines that do generate a fairly reasonable amount of traffic.
Getting listed in DMOZ is well worth the hassles and annoyances.
