I recently started a thread about statistics software for a Linux server. Following the recommendation of a poster, I installed Webalizer. Webalizer is ok, but I have found it to lack important information. Webalizer does not include 404 info, and it does not understand the referral codes in my log files. I would like to upgrade.
I am looking for a program that includes 404 error statistics and 404 referrals. It should have detailed referral information for external sites, should include keyword search texts, and should have hits per directory stats. I would like to spend as little as possible.
Does anyone have a recommendation?

Urchin is great!
Wusage is great -- you can find tune the reports, get referral info, keywork information, browser type usage, OS info, etc. There are very detailed 404 pages including 404 referrers which are great for notifying people to update their links to your site.
http://www.wusage.com
These features are not free though -- $75/single license $295/ISP.

Analog (http://www.analog.cx/) can do what you want and it's free.
The example stats at Analog's web site do not list the files that are causing 404 errors and they do not list the referrers to these files. Does Analog include this feature?
I have used Urchin before and is a nice piece of software. However $200 seems a bit high. I am am leaning towards wusage.

Analog can do that - you just activate the Failure and Failed Referrer reports. It's highly configurable. Also, if you want prettier reports, there's an add-on for Analog called Report Magic: http://www.reportmagic.com/

Seems that no one's mentioned HTTP-Analyze (http://www.netstore.de/Supply/http-analyze/) .
I've only just started using it, not long enough to tell you if it's any good, as I've only had it installed yesterday.

May be you can give this a try : http://awstats.sourceforge.net
I used to use Urchin but their cost is so expensive(a really great software). So I switch to Webalizer but I don't know why they seems to have some problem on some popular sites.
So I finally go with Awstats. Even though it's a perl script, but the speed is good and you have a very clear picture of what's going on with your site.
