Does someone know what kind of technical support that efreeservers.com provides for their dedicated servers, if any? A fellow webmaster told me this about them:

in my opinion ... it took 12 hours for them to tell me that it will definately take at least 4 weeks to get a machine "because they are experiencing unexpected growth" and that they provide NO tech support what-so-ever (not even the first 30 days) without going up to their "$1000 a month co-location package" ... talk about from the frying pan into the fire :(

Does this mean that efreeservers won't even help troubleshoot a machine that has crashed and won't reboot?

Efreeservers isnt for a newbie who doesnt know anything about linux/freebsd etc. They provide the server and the bandwidth. Minimal tech support is available anything more then that will cost you. My experieces with them is great and would reccomend them to any experienced admin.

They even ask me how my business is going when contacting them with technical issues.

I put a QUESTION on their tech. support.
<I am not their client, so I don't know much to comment.>

I emailed them several times, and they gave me an impression that they don't have any technical support staff.

Even at their website, the installation that takes 5-15 minutes to install would cost you several hundreds.

I might be wrong.

For those who are their clients, can you say that I am wrong?

Even at their website, the installation that takes 5-15 minutes to install would cost you several hundreds.
The main reason for this is because they don't really WANT to do these things. That's not their niche, and for me that's been ok.

They actually do have a techinical support staff. They just opened a new, larger office.

I've been quite pleased with them. The personal attention that microsol aluded to is awsome.

Aloha
Asia I thought you had a server with them or you were looking ??
I know I am still looking at them maybe fro some colo also
I agree with SBrad %100
they are in the bandwith location business not the install software and run managed machines if you look at someone like rackspace and hte amount they charge between managed and unmanaged you will se the $$$
also I have asked them a few questions in emails they have answered in a fast manner with good answers
to me it is like going to get your oil changed at the porsche dealer you pay a lot more than at sppedy lube or doing yourself
same thing at the end oil is changed one will be $100, $35, $15

I know if they open a box it is $100 one time so for that I am having them stick in more memory extra HD etc... all in one stop ;)

We can highly recommend EFS as well. Very helpful. Very prompt. They have gone to great lengths on occassions to send us extensive step by step details (often with screenshots) of a particular process that we were unsure of. They took us from resellers to capably running uor server in no time. In fact, we hardly have any reason to contac tthem at all now because we have a lever arch file full of everything we need.

And uptime! I have never once heard anyone state they have experienced any downtime. We certainly haven't (except as a result of our own doing).

2 months and counting, 100% uptime so far.

Aloha Sbrad
hehehe well at a porsche dealer it is expensive
no porsche dealer here on the island so I am stuck to go to another place
most people have a hard time figuring out there is a lower rock pan that covers up the engine ya have to drop out to get to the oil plug so that is a pain ;)

man I was looking at a 930 a long time a go as I could have gotten a good deal on one
but talk about expensive to maintain had to drop the engine to do a plug change so a tune up was around a grand yikes

I was looking at EFS for awhile.
However, for long term, I decided to go with Hurricane Electric (he.net). Best thing is they are very close to me.

Since I don't have problem going in and out of the facility, I might start a colo business.

I have only good things to say about them. And uptime....I have 100% uptime by them, only downtime was caused by me messing with the server :) and having a memory upgrade added.
